Supporting/performing in Israel after learning about what they are doing to the Palestinians should be more scrutinized than it is right now in world politics

  • The west supporting them knowing that they are committing genocide right now is extremely frustrating. I don't know what type of hold Israel has on world leaders that they can overlook this and still continue to do business with them. This level of scrutiny is only reserved for North Korea, China, Russia, and the Middle East. It really makes one wonder how geopolitics is such a strong brainwashing tool in turning a blind eye to their wanting to wipe Palestine off the map.

  • i have such a strong opinion on this, but i can't form it without offending some weird group of people on here.

just to put it short: maybe things will change when entitled people learn to acknowledge that there is more outside of their little first world bubble.

  • Well, let me tell you something. In our country, we consider the whole conflict to be very complicated given the whole history, therefore nobody has a strong opinion on the issue. Some people are sympathizing with this side and some with the other. I would say people are also more distrusting towards muslim culture in here. Politicians are just a mirror of what the general public thinks.

Just pure observation of people around me as you seem to wonder. Pls don't kill me.

  • tbh it's such a hypocrite world where US and UK can destroy a whole country just on suspicions of having nuclear weapons while having nuclear weapons themselves and start a war which caused a terrorism wave in middle east and destroyed soo many countries ( why do you think young people ended up becoming terrorists, because they saw their homes getting bombed and their families getting killed unjustifiably and world blamed them for it). Such countries would become the ambassadors of human rights and peace while others who never colonised any country, never started a war gets lectured by these first world countries over human rights. I am not saying there is not human rights violation by Muslim countries, there is a lot, I live in one but why do we pretend that these first world countries are absolutely saints and are not the reason 3/4 of chaos and wars happening in the world.

  • You all make the mistake of looking at foreign affairs/geopolitical relationships and diplomacy through the lenses of morality.

That's not how the world works. Why do think the US quietly backs Saudia Arabia's war in Yemen but condemns Russia war in Ukraine. It has nothing to do with morality, the same way other countries foreign affairs don't.

  • I won't condemn artists for performing in Israel unless they perform in illegally occupied territory.

I don't think it's right to hold civilians responsible for the actions of their government. By painting a country as a unified whole, you risk doing the same thing the conservatives within it do: Erasing the existence of the dissent within. They're muzzled on all sides, just like Russians who oppose Putin. And it's that silence which allows atrocities to continue in their name.

Beyond which, I just don't think art should have any consideration for barriers. No good comes from either cultural exclusion nor cultural isolation. It is the Israeli youth of today who hold the keys to any possible solutions to the future, and when you deprive them of cultural exchange you narrow their viewpoint. And you might also tell them that the world doesn't care about them. Which can't be true.

  • I won't condemn artists for performing in Israel unless they perform in illegally occupied territory.
