It's understandable because the whole nation is mourning and most people don't feel like celebrating anything right now

    The double standards do suck.

I mean in the UK when the Queen died the country heavily slowed down for days.

TV shows on national channels were heavily scaled back so comedy, game shows, general live entertainment were almost non existent with lots of nnews and documentaries of the queen taking their places. Some places of gov work like travel, courts even hospitals were less busy or delaying (my mum had a hospital appointment cancelled because her doctor couldn't make it due to lack of trains). Even football was suspended for the time (though other sports still went ahead but with silence or small remembrance before play). This lasted for over a week.

The day after the day of her burial everything went back to normal at break neck speed as if nothing happened

  • That’s understandable but why canceling red carpets and not the award show ? Making no sense.

I remember during COVID concerts would be restricted while days later there was a baseball match with over 80k people. They really hate music entertainment. Crazy.

Yeah, it was few days after BTS concert on the same venue. And those sports fan could shout and clap and suddenly this was fine but the same during concert is somehow dangerous.

  • The concept of national mourning is really interesting to me because it doesn't really happen in the US. I think 9/11 was the only time in recent memory that the US had a period of national mourning where everything stopped for an extended time. It lasted for months and months and months. Other than that, people just seem to forget about tragedies after a few days or a week.
