Bts has come and gone and what we are left with now is a watered down, very western sounding, identity-less music genre. It's boring. It can't preserve a fan's interest for longer periods of time like it used to pre bts. Folks who weren't around in second or pre bts booming in third gen don't get this btw
We are now seeing after effects of the BTS effect on kpop

g.o.d and BoA started the K-Pop game, and their acts were built off of U.S. influence, from their dancing to the music itself. K-pop has always followed American trends. Rap, hip-hop, and English lyrics were always central to the genre. Now that the U.S. American market has changed and switched its focus to electro / DJ sounds, Korea is doing the same thing. You don't miss K-Pop being unique and it's own thing. K-pop has never been it's own thing; it's a market driven by U.S. cultural influences. You miss old U.S. genres mostly sung in Korean and Japanese. If you miss that, you can keep listening to old music.
Or you can listen to IU.

Expanding upon this for an extra akorn, it's funny how it's only people outside of SK who cry about "K"-pop supposedly becoming westernized. "No. 1" by BoA, "You & I" by IU - those are sung in Japanese. Do you think the Japanese complained Koreans were using their language and becoming "less Korean" or "watered-down?"
