Yena and Sunmi should be in the Best Female Artist category instead of Miyeon and Seulgi.

Yena got a top 10 hit + good album sales while MY and SG struggled to even chart in the top 100.

Heart Burn is no hit but it did way better than Drive and 28 Reasons.

It's a real shame only 1 ROTY award will be given. Many of those groups would have easily been ROTY any other year. 2022 really is the craziest year ever for debuts. To be honest IVE/NewJeans should be up there nominated for Best Female Artist but I guess this is the MAMA policy.

I had this same thought when I saw the nominees - really strange that Yena isn't nominated she did insanely well.

3 rookie girl groups battle 3 senior girl groups for best dance performance (GG). Damn.

IVE should've been nominated for best female group.

Best Dance Performance is also a bit weird. I was sure TWICE will be nominated for this one and not Best Female Group but it's the opposite.

Sunmi robbed again, what do I even expect anymore.

I didn't click with Yena's solo but it had more impact and better results. Both deserved to be nominated.

Just curious, for best vocal performance apparently it's about the best song composition and not the best live performance?

Isn't Yena still new artist that is why she can't be nominated in best female artist just like how IVE/NJ for best female group? As for Sunmi, I am not sure whether her comeback had more impact than the other nominees or not.

Vocal Performance is a confusing name for the award.

Technically is a genre awards, so evaluate a specific song performance on charts like SOTY but for a specific genre.

In Vocal Performance are usually nominated ballad/pop ballad but there may also be generic vocal driven songs/groups nominated.

For best composition exist professional awards which nominations aren't known and isn't voted by the public. And the award is given to the composer not to the artist.

Same for Dance Performance it isn't given to the best choreography but to the best performing dance/idol song on charts. For best choreography there is a professional award given to the choreogeapher.
