Why Jungkook deserves his fair share of credit for the success of Left and Right.

  • And why declaring Jungkook's impact on the song's performance as inconsequential and claiming it should not be considered his song as he is just a feat, is stupidity at its finest.

This is debut numbers for Charlie Puth's title track from his album which released yesterday.

The song is a proper organic hit as evidenced in its virality on Tiktok and its stable Spotify streams and Jungkook has played a big part in it its success.

  • It's just so funny seeing this narrative play out. Let me lis a few examples. Bad Decisions, while Snoop Dog is a known celebrity, his last hit was 15 years ago. By himself, he hasn't seen Top 70 on BB HOT100. With BTS, scores a top 10 debut. And people still like to believe it's all him. Then you got Jason Derulo, who even with all the promo and massive tik tok trending his stolen Savage Love was doing, still couldn't score a #1 debut on HOT 100. But the moment BTS was in the equation, no problem securing that #1. BTS hard carries their collabs and not the other way oround and that doesn't sit well with others whose favs need the collabs to boost their rankings on the charts.

  • No one can deny Jungkook's contribution to this song. But we can't dismiss the work of Charlie's team either. BTS and members' solo songs tend to debut big and slowly decline. However, thanks to the hard work of Charlie's team, the song lasted so long. It's true that Charlie and his team do a much better promotional job than HYBE.

If it was that easy, his team would have made every song on his album a hit like Left and Right. So let's not credit them too much for what has been tbh not even a massive push from their end. 20mn or so radio audience is a bare minimum for most mid level artists. If they had gotten the song some 70mn radio, it would still be to their credit.

BTS themselves have had better radio and push on their English songs - Dynamite and Butter - under CR.

If you want people to give credit to Jungkook, you shouldn't try to discredit from Charlie and his team's work. Especially when Jungkook didn't do anything to properly promote the song.

I am not discrediting them, I am saying they have done the bare minimum, as they did for Light Switch too. Yet one song outperformed the other. And Jungkook did not have to promote the song, his presence alone guaranteed and continues to guarantee those numbers...man are you even for real?

Again, why am I discussing with you when I know what your true nature is.

Yeah yeah same old shit. If you're not ready to get an answer, you won't start an thread. If you've started a thread, argue properly without trying to naming people.

An appreciation thread which did not discredit Charlie or his team or even give JK sole credit, yet you had to come in and make it about how Jungkook did not even promote the song and shade him for it. I can see your bitterness from a mile away. Let's drop the act.

I am not sitting here distributing credit for the song, the OP was just to point out absolutely clear facts on the difference in performance of a song with JK and one without JK. I hope his team can push the other songs and make them as successful as Left and Right, since it is that easy.

actually what are u trying to imply? im confused. are u saying the song's entire success is because of the sole promotion? and not actually because the song alr had good reception as a BTS member was part of it and it literally went viral on tiktok.

Charlie team pushed the song to radio just like how butter and dynamite was pushed. if u are talking about interviews he did as promo- didn't he do the same for light switch and other songs?

Charlie is a well established artist himself and so is JK. Both deserve their credit.

The OP literally states that Jungkook played a big part in its success and not that Jungkook alone is responsible for its success. It was clearly directed at people who have been dismissing his contribution to the song. But someone sees that as a slight at Charlie and his team.

  • The funniest thing is that Charlie Puth stans are constantly mad at his label for doing the bare minimum with Left and Right and feel it should have gotten a bigger push but yeah let's ignore that.

You do realize that all these things you mentioned are factors in the success of the song, right? The song went viral on Tik Tok because Charlie worked hard for it. His team set up nice playlists and there was a good radio promotion. What else could they do for promotion? Also, Jungkook's presence has already added an extra boost because fans streaming hard and from what I can see, Jungkook solos are also heavily requesting radios. Yes, Jungkook should get credit too, because his presence alone makes the song interesting. But I'm sorry, when it's obvious that OP is trying to put him ahead of even Charlie and discredit him and his team, I can't keep quiet. Considering that Jungkook doesn't contribute in any way to his promotion other than posting an Instagram post, I don't think it's right that Charlie and his team are so discredited like this. It's a team effort, as Charlie always said. Jungkook is also part of this team. But Charlie is also a part of it.

okay charlie puth stan where did OP exactly discredit Charlie and his team? op is only showing the difference in streams lmaooo

You are such a baldfaced liar and nice to see you become a newly born Charlie Puth stan/supporter and fighter for fairness and equality.

No where was it mentioned in the OP that JK played a bigger role than Charlie, just say you are jealous and leave.

Normally I love seeing your stance on things because I can still agree to disagree, but this one I can't quite get it. It is a known fact that kpop stans have, for the most part been saying Charlie and the song being in English is why it's doing so well. Which discredits Jungkook's involvement, so this thread, which I'm assuming is a response to that narrative, says otherwise. Jungkook doesn't even promote his solo songs, so you making it a point does seem like you are also agreeing with kpop stans who give Jungkook no credit for the songs' success. That's the perception other users will likely see of you with a comment like that.

  • Imagine carrying out the Army pretence for years only to come in and spoil a BTS member appreciation thread cause you suddenly discovered a new found love for an artist you claimed to otherwise barely being able to tolerate.

  • okay charlie puth stan where did OP exactly discredit Charlie and his team? op is only showing the difference in streams lmaooo

Because we both know that the debut numbers mean nothing. The important thing is to longevity. If Jungkook was this successful, all of his solo/collab songs would be as successful as L&R. But it didn't happen, did it? But Charlie's songs that debuted with small numbers were generally long-lived. But of course let's ignore that. Because it doesn't work for us and we don't want to hear it. :suure:

You seem to have missed the "fair share" part of the title and words like "big part" in OP. Nowhere does it say or even imply that Charlie and his team did nothing - just that Jungkook's contribution was not as inconsequential as others have tried to make it seem. And how did the OP come to that conclusion? Because another song of Puth's, marketed by the same team, didn't do as well as his feature with JK which shows that JK did have impact.

  • Imagine carrying out the Army pretence for years only to come in and spoil a BTS member appreciation thread cause you suddenly discovered a new found love for an artist you claimed to otherwise barely being able to tolerate.

so you "miss righteous i will fight for charlie's credit" is now coming here to diss JK and his contribution to the song. we are talking about success of a song being credited to both and that JK also has substantial role in it. all u are doing is try to discredit and demean him bcos of your weird hater boner.

also for your information this is JK's first collab song under his name so what comparisons are you doing ms righteous charlie puth fan?

Ok, then question the longevity. That's valid. But OP never said Charlie and his team did nothing - that's putting words in her mouth. She is just saying she believes JK played a non-inconsequential role and the reason she thinks that is because of the debut numbers.

  • Omg you're so childish. :pepe-hehe:

Girl you think people forgot about the time you went on a rant abusing Yoongi for autotune. See I am glad atleast this thread once again exposed your true colours. Who needs antis when we got "fans" like you.

Yeah, and if they weren't trying to insult people who were trying to argue, they'd understand that what I'm trying to point out is that the debut numbers aren't all that important and that's why I said what Charlie and his team did was the right thing to do.

  • I'm talking about longevity on the charts.

    it has longevity

from a 2021 article for a song released in 2018

Even after two years of its release, "Euphoria" never loses its fame. In fact, it continues to attract more fans from other countries. It has now surpassed 200 million plays on Spotify, one of the world's largest music platforms. BTS Jungkook received the milestone in 875 days, becoming the seventh fastest BTS song to do so in a short period of time. "Euphoria" has become the very first solo track of a male idol to attain this feat.

"Euphoria" is also the best-selling BTS solo track. Previously, it has been revealed that the song is the best-selling B-side in K-pop with more than four million copies sold worldwide. It is also the longest-charting K-pop solo single on Billboard's World Digital Song Sales chart. For the week ending on Jan. 16, BTS Jungkook's "Euphoria" was at No. 8 in its 47th week on the ranking.

not just longevity but impact too

It was even featured as the soundtrack to the finale episode of the first season of HBO's teen drama, also titled "Euphoria."

  • Girl you think people forgot about the time you went on a rant abusing Yoongi for autotune. See I am glad atleast this thread once again exposed your true colours. Who needs antis when we got "fans" like you.

Why are you dragging Yoongi into this? The person doing the wrong things here is obvious. Imagine being accused of being an anti for not liking a singer using autotune. :pepe-shame:
