Blackpink had one in Yonsei and Konkuk a few years ago…I believe universities are a place for new groups to develop a strong fan base

first semester ends mid-june, and second college semester starts at the end of August or early September
probably this is why, kind of maybe celebrating the end of summer too with this?
the one thing which is weird tho that those festivals recently seem to not only be day by day but some of them are even in same day...for example tomorrow/or today depends where you live, on 27th September - STAYC will perform in Kyonggi University K-LUV Festival, and also in Kookmin University Festival

Pretty much all of them have them from Spring to around now is when they all occur.
Usually the student government associations organize and pay for the acts.
I know because WINNER is the #1 boy group that's invited to these.
It's usually dominated by girl groups, soloists and other chart toppers like AKMU and other famous people with general public like PSY.
So you have to have good amount of general public recognition + be on trend with college age in Korea.
Which is why WINNER is usually one of the only boy groups that get invited to all of them.

Psy is no1. He got so many invitations that He cant attend them all.
And he is an excellent performer. Brave Girls did vibe hard to Psy when they attended the same festival a few days ago.
