Despite Kpop has been advancing worldwide and in the West for years, there is still no Grammy for Kpop artist while it already happened in Oscar and Emmy.

its so interesting that they can give Grammys to Spanish artists and have a special Spanish category, but not a Korean one, like i smell so much BS its just disappointing

That’s not a very good point. Spanish is the 2nd most spoken language in the US. It’s way more popular than Korean

Still bigger in the west than Korean series or drama
Gangnam style was a viral song and a meme, how can you compare it with kdramas? You hear viral songs because they are everywhere, you don't search for them. Everyone is talking about them, you cannot escape them. That's what viral means. Watching a show or a film have to be one's decision.

Kpop is still pop music at the end of the day and the kind that doesn't fare that well at Grammys.
Maybe a Korean music act can win in the future. It won't necessarily be a kpop act.
in the end the Grammys to Spanish-speaking artists are not concentrated in one category, which is just proof of how varied Spanish-speaking culture is. And it took years to create such categories even though Spanish-speaking people is one of the largest minorities in the States.
And Korean movies and series have always been better than kpop even it they are not consumed by as many people.

I feel like it is still more accepted in society to watch Korean Dramas and films compared to listening to Kpop. Like in my country (Nigeria) I have seen a few guys watching/being into Kdramas. The most recent one I saw people talking about is Alchemy of souls a lot of them even know Lee Min Ho from the huge Hallyu wave of Boys Over Flower. Others make fun of people that are into Kpop or when they are seen stanning/fangirling over idols.

i mean, korean film has been highly acclaimed in the film industry for years, just not that mainstream until parasite. squid game kind of piggy backed off of the rise in interest in korean media at the time and gaining the viral attention of gen z ect with its hook. the film industry accepted parasite and squid game also was accepted as mainstream in the west, but the western music industry does not have its arms open towards forign music other than spanish. and even spanish music is given its own category when it could go toe to toe with big western acts on an even playing field. the reality is kpop is still largely locked out of the western music industry. the culture of kpop is looked down on and deemed "weird".
