What would happen if Tropical Storm Muifa stops IU's concert next Sat?

  • NCT Dream finished its concert at the Chamshil Olympic Stadium, becoming the third act in the 3rd Gen to do that.

It is a big accomplishment, even though they say the third floor was not used. It is estimated that about 42,000 people, overall, attended it.

And it now has a possibility of being the last concert before it closes for renovation for quite a while (no one now knows when it will be finished.) The event on Oct 7, featuring NCT Dream (again), Monsta X and IVE at there will be the final event .

    Why?

There is a new typhoon being developed now, called Muifa (which means Jasmine in the Macanese language).

While some predict it will hit China, most likely Shanghai area or Shandong, there is a possibility that it will directly hit the Kyunggi province (including Seoul). They say we will learn about it by Sep 11, and the storm will hit Korea on Sep 16 if it ever goes to that direction. If it gets there the impact is expected to be significant since the temperature of the Yellow Sea is now kinda high, strengthening the typhoon.

    If that happens, no concert.

Maybe the guy in the upstairs did have mercy on KPop, after all, after all these years and deny the singer who always tried to undermine KPop for all of her career the ultimate glory.

The singer who was always hostile to KPop and is fundamentally incompatible with it is about to take the ultimate glory, and if the heavens prevent it, it will be a sign that the Destiny does not want KPop to be suffocated by the hands of the singer who would rather see the Kpop boom end.

  • That would be a sad thing.

But just by ensuring that she sold out 89000 seats over 2 days, she has data-wise already set the bar. The demand is so high that they are selling even previously unoffered seats of limited visibility.

So even if the concert is entirely cancelled, IU's dominance has been already proved with the sell-out.

Not that it needed any proving in the first place.

Edit: I wrote IU's dominance in S.Korea .. but then removed it. Multiple metrics - Spotify/Google Search/Hallyu surveys by Govt of Korea - have established that IU is among the top 5 of K-pop artists known internationally, so she is hardly limited to S.K

  • It might show that the Heavens do not want her to have concert at there and reach the same level enjoyed by EXO, BTS and NCT Dream?

Without a real concert clip, all the tickets sold would be refunded and no record will exist, and by the time the stadium finishes its renovation, who knows where she would be.

In fact it might signify the beginning of the end of her dominance in Korea.

By Sep 11, we will know whether KPop has finally dodged its big bullet, again, or heavens have finally abandoned it.

Who would have thought that a freak storm from Taiwan might sink the bid of the old singer to make KPop return back to the bad old days.

All these KPop figures, from Wonder Girls and Big Bang to NewJeans, had to live with the Strange Creature who stubbornly refused to cooperate bringing KPop to the world stage and did everything to undermine it, for 12 years. Maybe their efforts are being rewarded finally.

  • The record would still exists.. internet forgets nothing.

And if she was prevented by a natural calamity, then it will be no discredit to her.

History will say that it took a typhoon to stop IU, for no other act from Wonder Girls to New Jeans or Bigbang to BTS could stop her.

  • And if the worst happens,

EDAM/IU have shown themselves to be very capable, where they will pivot and come up with alternatives, to those who have paid,

    1. Online concert

    2. Free Merch

    3. Charity

    A combination of the above.

  • Shackleton with the South Pole, Mallory with Sagarmatha - they are not forgotten or any less admired by the mountaineers or cognoscenti , because their great attempt did not come to fruition at the final step.

If it takes immense force of nature to stop IU from achieving this particular peak, then she too would no less be admired by those in the industry or aware people.

At this point, it is rude to wish failure upon her attempt.

  • Shackleton with the South Pole, Mallory with Sagarmatha - they are not forgotten or any less admired by the mountaineers or cognoscenti , because their great attempt did not come to fruition at the final step.

Actually the people of Norway will have a different opinion on this

The Norwegians , to this, have maintained that only Roald Amundsen, and no other, has a claim to the South Pole.

Same thing with Sir Edmund Hillary and the sherpa Tenzing Norgay. I think Sir Hillary probably showed respect on George Mallory, but I doubt Tenzing did.

A similar experience in Kpop is Psy's bid for Billboard. Ignoring Scooter Brown's advice, returned to Korea to fulfill his promise to some third-rate universities in K-O-R-E-A. He is all but a footnote now.

  • Acknowledging Shackleton is not denying Amundsen.

Sagarmatha is different story, the natives probably should be given more credit than any outsider.. that's why I use only Sagarmatha.. Still from records perspective Mallory and Hillary/Norgay is good enough.

There are no guarantees in life, it is not wrong for someone to choose their home over the world.

It is not the arena of action, but what you did in it, that matters.

  • I went to a BTS stadium concert while it was rainy and 45 degrees F outside lol, they just cover everything in plastic wrap. It's very rare for stadium concerts to get cancelled and would require tropical storm levels of rain/wind.
