I think having too many people in this camps ruins the creativity of the songs involved. There's a reason why Bad Love is so good at what it does

With the amount of idols they have you'd think SM might let them compose more instead of continuously relying on outside work leading to situations like this.

A SNSD member was finally allowed input to create a song after 15 years even though many have previously written lyrics or even co-produced their own songs/albums. The ironic thing is Tiffany is not even part of SM so I don't see why more SM idols aren't given a chance.

SM should hire Tiffany for aespa because that song is an 11/10 and screams aespa the type of music and even the lyrics

but yeah imagine SNSD without Kenzie

Shinee had producer credits (as in creating the song, not just lyrics) since their beginning? Damn, props to them, SM really believes in them. Suju iirc were also allowed to produce especially after forming their label.

I guess it is more of a female idol thing, they get less opportunities to show they creative talents in SM.

I know Yeri composed one song and that's it in RV (but then again RV has very few albums for their age). For I think IGAB era Taeyeon and Yoona complained they were allowed to write and try to compose lots of songs but all of them were rejected and Tiffany said on knowing bros recently she supposedly worked on close to 100 songs but only a handful have some kind of credit to her (mostly her solo stuff and a coupe written for SNSD).

to me i would agree with lulu below and add that it sounds like a collaborative effort and gives a chance to up and coming songwriters/producers no?

obviously if such persons didn't want to do it then can still produce/write in their own time no?

You can't have too many ideas with writing. Writing's a one man job, a few men sometimes. You can't put 10ish people in a room and say "okay, write lyrics," cause that's not how it works. Same goes for production, you can't have too many ideas.

I do think songs can have added embellishments though. Yoo young Jin did a great job with the rework of Next Level, lyrics and arrangement wise.
