so about 4th gen boy group and korean chart & digital....

  • Some of these 4th generation bg's companies seem to have given up on charting and decided to just pursue their own interests, in my opinion. The claim that "bgs need to develop more gp-friendly songs" is essentially false because all of them have already produced gp-friendly music (such as Wave, Crown, andThrill Ride). They seem to have lost interest in girl groups in general (even 3rd gen bgs don't chart as high as their gg peers these days, and the only 4th gen groups outside of the big 4 that chart well are ive,g-idle and stayc, while in 3rd gen there were much more girl groups from various companies like gfriend, mamamoo and oh my girl..wjsn,lovelyz and momoland too if we considering them lmao they have hits). I've come to terms with the fact that these groups will probably never have a hit song with the gp because of their musical approach, and that's alright (realistically I wouldnt expect normal people to vibe with guerrilla or future perfect in a cafe) Even while I can't really comment on other albums from tiny companies, it's not the end of the world because literally all of them has a strong international fan following that supports them, ensuring that they at least have a steady income from record sales and global tours.

they are looking for a long term investment which is fandom. as long as the fandom enjoying the music and will stay in the fandom and keep consuming their product such as album, tour etc.

  • I think Korea will eventually show interest in BGs again. I consider this as slump period for boy groups. I don't know whether already debuted group will start a chain reaction that might revive interest in bgs or the group that has yet to debut. My bet is on a group that will debut in the future, like SM NBG, but non-NCT boy group. I just have a hunch that Korea will eat it up, but It could easily be already debuted group, because y'know anything can happen.

Interests do change. There were years when GGs barely had one Top 10 hit, there were also years when soloists dominated and in the past, years when BGs were on roll, so I am sure BG revival isn't too far away.

  • I don't care about charts and numbers. Personally, I would love for all my faves to win a music show award at least once in their career but sometimes that's just not possible especially with groups who have small fandoms. The thing is not everyone has the same tastes and there's many groups out there that appeal to people in various ways. I personally listen to 35+ BOY GROUPS. From 2nd-4th gen in a variety of genre's and styles. I enjoy their comebacks, the music, watching them perform, collecting albums and merchandise. Of course in a perfect world we all wish our faves could be recognized as big as the top groups are. I feel like they are doing okay even if not charting or they wouldn't continue to make music.

What sucks is trying to convince people who won't listen to these smaller groups to give them a try. I feel like so many people are missing out on great music because they won't give these "nugu's/smaller company bg's" a chance.

Do it, you may find some great stuff!

    Anticipate Xeed's debut! :sure-bee:
