I was reading this article on the news side of akp about how Chaeryong for Itzy doesn't like tanning at first i was yeah there is nothing wrong with some people are ok with their natural skin color and they want to keep it that way but the more I read the article the more i see a statement for Chaeryong saying : "When I see thumbnails, one person stands out. Because she's so white."
And it follow with Yeyi telling g the following "I've tanned a lot this year. I stood next to Chaeryeong on 'Music Bank', and I got more tanned than I thought. As Lia says, I made Chaeryeong shine like 'Like a Star in the Night Sky'."
I was like WTF idols still think this way, i know that colorism is still an issu in Korea but i thought with the new generation is decreased a little bit what the hell.
Also it doesn't end here Chaeryeong said, "I was thinking about tanning when I debuted, but Lia told me, 'If you tan, you'll become someone who's not pale or not sexy. You'll just be ambiguously in the middle.' I'm grateful when I think about it now."
I know that maybe there is some miss translation but how bad the translation is that it ended up sounding like this seriously Koreans need ti accept their skin a little bit more.
For anyone who wants to read the article here the link to it:
