Kpop fans don’t actually want “something new”
-
-
They want cute concepts, but ignore groups when they do them.
They want conventional songs, but then call them boring.
-
how is having more members or less members or ai members important or relevant enough to be a concept?
what matters is the concept of the albums, the title tracks, the lyrics etc but companies clearly dont want their artists to focus on it
-
there are also new things which are good, there are new things which ends bad, doing something new if the end result is bad, doesn't mean people should like it just because is something new

NMIXX has their whole mixed sound concept = Gets hate for it
May I submit that O.O is JYP's take on the mixed sound that aespa popularized. This is them trying to insert themselves in that part of the market. And in turn they just didn't successfully manage to make it a good song. Not NMIXX's fault by the way. They're just doing what they're told.

Kpop fans don't want music at all actually. They want concepts. They are here to live in a fantasy these are not music fans.
-
doesn't it come down to different strokes for different folks...
some people might like it, some people might not
if more people dislike it than like it well that's just individual preferences no?
This. Why do many can't comprehend this
-
I like groups to do new concepts otherwise it gets stale and boring. I like variety.

I don’t understand why people are trying to credit NMIXX or aespa for things SNSD and f(x) revolutionized back in the day but I agree with your points.
I think O_O is messy for sure, but people would’ve still come for it even if was better executed, the same way they come for aespa or Itzy songs that also also have a mix of styles.
I see people complain that Kpop is boring but then that they want Kpop to sound like it did in the second Gen and never change. They also say that they want a group to go back to the sound of a song they did four years ago. And then if they do, they complain it’s boring.
They say that concepts and music are too strange and avant-garde despite Kpop music still being a few years behind mainstream sounds in the West. Like the things everyone freaks out about already happened several years ago. 🤷🏽♀️
(I also don’t understand this ongoing rewriting of history on initial reactions to aespa. People were definitely freaking tf out about their ai concept, just as they have on most of their tt releases.)
