Nikkei's entertainment talent power rankings are out for 2022, and seinedoru on twitter has compiled the scores for the most popular idol groups in the country.
Perfume were ranked as the most popular girl group in Japan for the 10th year in a row.

Johnny's groups rarely disbands.^^ For decades, only SMAP had been disbanded. KAT-TUN and Kanjani8 are still active despite losing half of their members.

Looking at some of these I can't believe people make fun of recent kpop group names
Twice once again representing the entirety of the girl group Kpop market lol. Interesting that every % went up for Twice this year. Also leading in interest and recognition over all Kpop groups.
The Feels was a big hit in Japan for them, the biggest girl group hit of last year and one of the biggest Kpop hits with the GP. Even surpassed Feel Special and TT for them so far. I think hitting the BB hot 100 also helped Twice remain so stellar in Japan in spite of basically 0 promotion over the last 2 years due to covid and(let's be honest) a few average Japanese singles.
TF > FS, yes. But TT? I don't think so. TT charted for 112 weeks on BB Hot100. While I do agree TF has great longevity, second best for Twice. It's not a bigger hit than TT.
Surprised to see Kat-Tun still as a group
As long as Kame continues to be a part of KAT-TUN, I think KAT-TUN will continue to exist.
