Another professional-woman-meeting-a-much-younger-man genre.
SK might be unique in the proportion of Noona-romances. In most other cultures it is the male lead who tends to be older even much older, while actress age out very quickly. But in S.K there are still a bunch of 40ish or even 40+ dames holding the leading roles.
That should make you happy, coz then LJE might possibly might ramp down on music and focus on acting in the upcoming decade.
But that would make me unhappy, even if she is a good actress/succeeds, it is the lyricist-singer I appreciate.
Hope she continues to find the balance between both.

What has happened is there is a paucity of younger actresses, while those who were hot in the 2000s and are now hitting their 40s are still strong.
Around 2007, when Yoona got to play a role in the daily dramas, those with entertainment potentials began to choose idols as their first choice, and idols, naturally, had other duties.
Kim Taeri only debuted in 2016 (she acted in some independent films which not too many people know about from 2014 but 2016 is her effective year of debut) at the age of 26.
This year's Baeksang actress categories featured such people
Kim Hyesoo, who began as a child actress.
Lee Seyoung, who began as a child actress.
Park Eunbin, who began as a child actress.
Kim Taeri
Han Sohee
3 of the 5 candidates were child actresses . IF they didn't begin as such, it is possible that at least the two younger ones might have become idols.
Kim Taeri is slightly older (same age as Yoona) and Han Sohee had a turbulent childhood which led her to be estranged from her mother who continuously borrowed money on her name, which probably led her to not have an opportunity to become an idol.
In other words, most of the actress material who were in their age cohort had become idols. Han Sohee's unique childhood kept her from becoming an idol, but people younger than her would first stay as idols and then progress into actresses as their idol days end.
The only youngish actresses in the previous 3 baeksangs in contention were:
Lee JIeun, who needs no explanation
Kim Sohyun, also a child actress!
(Kal Sowon, although belonging to YG, is following Kim Sohyun's footsteps.)
So there is a serious gap of actresses in their 20s.
Which is why actresses in their 40s are getting good roles in Korea, which was rare before.
Lee Jieun already acted with Yeo Jingoo, who is 4 years (or 1,318 years) younger than her, so she would be quite happy to act with younger actors who were too young to appreciate a certain picture she had posted 10 years ago.

Well there are bunch in early thirties., Park Bo Young, Seo Yea Ji... but yes the lead actresses seem skewed to the seniors..
As though the Anchovy photo is going to make any difference to the younger actors..they would have seen/done far more.
All that matters is the public absolutely does not care, it will take a humungous scandal for anyone to besmirch the "Nation's little sister". She is as teflon as it gets in Korea - maybe only YJS, Kim Yuna are more idolized.

So much so, that despite all the twitter ranting, she collaborated with Jay Park and thoroughly ignored the mob. If not too damaged, she can resurrect careers. Can BTS do that to Kim Garam, I wonder?

well, Lee Naeun of April, who had been buried under the bullying scandal, has found an actor's agency. It is likely that she will only play evil roles, but that is a niche.
So, Garam, after a facelift and a new name, could pull it off, although whether she can continue under Hybe is still an open question.

I don't mind the age gap, it's actually not that big since she was a rookie (so maybe 24ish?) and he was in his last year of hs (19-20ish)
It is a total cliche bcs it's the typical cold-looking woman who is actually extremely competent and solves everything and he is the victim who tries to take revenge. Meh, nothing wow

Seo Yea Ji can make anything interesting. One of the better actresses out there.
And therefore she is back. The directors and show runners know better.
