If things were "simple" they would have no problem kicking out Soojin. Here's why it's complicated: if Soojin leaves that will make GIDLE a group with more foreign members than Korean members (3/2 ratio). The xenophobia and ethnocentrism in Korea is too strong that it would even make those calling for Soojin to leave to take pause and consider the consequences. The other difficulty is that Soyeon and the other members would be very against suddenly adding a replacement member.

I dont think foreign vs Korean is the real problem. I think the real problem is that she has so many stan attractors (personally i have never understood this, Gidle is Miyeon and Soyeon for me, but even on this forum you have so many people that love SJ). Kicking her out will have consequences in terms of album sales at least and maybe even song charting.

Soojin catches eyes due to her aura, and she has a lesbian following, but these aren't hardcore stans that she has. A lot of fans turned against Soojin in Korea. What happened to Soojin in Korea, by the public's perception, is as if she said the n-word from ifans perspective. She'd get cancelled immediately, no questions asked. At least with boy idols they have oppa fangirls who will shield them no matter what, most female idols don't have that.
Most of idle album sales come from huge Chinese fanbases (mostly Yuqi and Shuhua).

I don't think Soojin has a big fanbase, she has a lot of casual fans rather than a big fanbase, Yuqi and Shuhua have a bigger fanbase, Miyeon started to get lot of fans recently too.
edit: she basically has big public recongnition rather than big fanbase

I said it in other threads... they can go full merge mode, and cover everything up
they have tools to do it, just need to be smart CLC contracts probably end either this year or very early in 2022...
so pick one, or more and leggo

It was an issue they thought about at first back when they were building the group. That's why they were so glad when Miyeon joined the company. But now? I don't think the meat of problem. Foreign members have become popular and skilled enough in the Korean language that they can promote and do idols stuff just like any Korean members.
To me, the meat of the issue with Soojin's withdrawal is the withdrawal itself. Soojin is one the best performers in the group. Watch again their FIRE cover and Put It Straight remix and tell me if these performances would be as iconic without her. I don't think they would.
Soojin is not Soyeon, she doesn't write songs and stuff like that, granted. But she's far from being an easily disposable member in my opinion. Of course they will remove her if they have to but it will suck big time and they know it.
