Talent to burn

I've been tracking Third Generation girl group concert attendance, and for Twice in 2024, I'm showing attendance of 572161 over 11 shows, with only one of those shows being in the US. So these numbers are clearly incomplete.
Yep...
I don't think many of TWICE's Japanese Concerts have been listed on Billboard

She really is a great Senior to Female Idols.

The way it was worded when it was announced, I will be honest.... sounds like the girls did not want to renew and declined.
Ohhhhh !!!!
That seems weird.....
They were having the best Sales up to that point..... but HYBE does have those "forward sales" where they apparently get Retailers to pre-buy for Events.

Oh goodness, you do not know Fromis' full history, they were popular before joining HYBE and then just became popular again after 3 years of not doing much as far as promotions. "Fun" was everywhere when it came out as was "Love Bomb" and "Feel Good". They faded out of popularity from late 2021 until summer of this year. From 2018-2021 they were doing great.
Now as far as Pledis being a sausage fest. ..... I mean they put After School on the back burner and refused to listen to those girls even though for almost 10 years they were the only ones other than Son Dam-bi making Pledis any money really. It was not until later in Nu'ests' career as a group that they started making the company quite a bit of money sadly. I love Nu'est but they failed a lot because Pledis never let them have a clear musical direction and were inconsistent in promotions. And then of course the Pristin debacle.. so yea it is a bit of a sausage measuring contest there, which thankfully Seventeen has been winning for years now so the execs just kinda sit down and zip it and let them do whatever they want.
There is a big difference from selling your highest album at 60k and the highest song ranked was 57th under Off the Record compared to a high of 2nd on the Song Charts and 192k album sales which they achieved under Pledis.
And it is a sausage factory as Pledis didn't renew their contracts despite getting their best in their most recent comeback.

Naturally I think it's a bop...
But I'd rank this behind The Feels and I want you back when comparing with English Songs TWICE has done...... and probably the English version of Cry for me...
"I can't stop me" is the last TWICE song which I feel had the Title as an impact in the Song, the rest just aren't memorable which includes this one.
I'm still waiting for a return to lyrics that make the title the main hook....
Hey Boy would be a more memorable Title for the Song as Strategy is just buried by the hook.

tbh, possibly Jessie could do it but there aren't a lot of Korean Female Rappers that could fit well with TWICE and not look like an Idol Rapper.

They will lose potential earnings but haven't lost anything especially as they will likely sue for potential earnings from their contracts and it won't be cheap.
-
But they are not very well-known domestically and internationally and they are more of a band than a group
All the groups I've mentioned are well known domestically..... as for Internationally.......
There aren't many Kpop groups that are really well known internationally except for BTS and BP.

If you are talking Minors, then in South Korea, it's 19 years and younger based on their year of birth, the Lunar Calendar is not used in Korean Law.
Acting Training and Kpop Training are very different where Kpop Training is generally Singing, Dancing and an extra Language, some Kpop Companies do have Acting.
Being a Kpop Idol also restricts Dating Life, Smoking, Alcohol and other such devices that are deemed as "Adult". You will find that some of these things are used a plot devices even in Kids Shows which is why it's probably much safer for a child to train as a Kpop Idol than even a Child Actor/Actress in America.
Ultimately, Kpop is considered to be on the same level as Kids Music by South Koreans, largely due to Kpop Companies targeting teens and Koreans saying they grow out of it by College.
So it make sense that a Company would want to debut a person near the same age group as the fans they are marketing toward.
There are laws in SK that protect Minors in Entertainment with restricted work hours and imposing curfews but for a Minor that is an Athlete or just a normal Student, they have no protections despite conditions that are more extreme.
