I really like the beat and the song as a whole is growing on me pretty rapidly.

I only enjoy about 1 b-side in every album they release. To each their own I guess.

They could have done a bigger venue imo

After Newjeans decline globally/in the US with this comeback, it's pretty clear they aren't on BP's level. Due to two years of inactivity, for the first time BP won't be the most streamed GG on spotify, but they maintained being the most streamed for most of this year before their CB. It seems due to the decline, NJ's won't be touching or even coming near BP's record for most streamed year this year.
Interestingly, due to their strength on YT, BP might still maintain their title as most streamed girl group across all global (and measurable) streaming platforms this year though. Which is crazy after being inactive for so long.
No one, except the most delusional, were saying BP were on BTS's level. -
I used to live in a heavily Jehovah's Witness area growing up. At least back then they didn't have a do not contact list, just they wouldn't try again for another few months if you asked them not to come back.
It became somewhat common in my town to answer the door fully nude after the first time because then they never came back. It was deemed legal in my jurisdiction to answer the door in the nude, but I'm sure that varies based on state etc. -
Stray Kids destroying Newjeans on Spotify US/Global was not on my bingo card for 2024.

Pretty much no average person would remember that though. It's pretty irrelevant. AIIYL ended up being multitudes more successful and still keeps charting 7 years later. The only 3rd gen song besides Spring Day to do so for multiple weeks every year.

Every time BB came back, it was a huge event to the general public, kind of life when IU would come back. SNSD coming back just excited the fans, which they were a lot of.
You can see this when looking at things such as the peak UL's of each group's comebacks during the era. A lot more people anticipated anything Big Bang did, and they never really flopped. Especially in their later years, Still Life was still huge, but SNSD's later stuff flopped to varying degrees. -
Without BP YG would have gone bankrupt since BB basically ceased to exist after 2015 (except for Still Life).
BP was a lot bigger than BB due to their breakthroughs in basically every international market.
It's not to say that YG didn't get to be the company it was when BP debuted without BB though. Without BB, BP would have never made it to debut probably. -

Newjeans decline seemingly getting worse.

You do not remember your own thread talking about western market?
You just change topic to local Korean market when you do not have enough argument.
You only believe and factor in specific dimensions which benefit your own belief.
New Jeans put more songs in hot 100 in single calendar year, are you really proud of that even it is the fact that Blackpink never releases more than 1 album in a single year and that was only before MHJ incident while New jeans got support from Armys? that is pathetic.
Look at New Jeans now in western market after MHJ incident, they just have no impact whatsoever at all.
The amount of spinning Yama does since NewJeans declined has been apparent a lot these days.

You're talking about days and weeks while I'm talking about YEARS and GUINNESS RECORDS
We are not the same, my friend.
It accomplished more than any BP song not carried by Selena Gomez, and it's the most critically acclaimed girl group song of all time and that's no hyperbole.
The point is that many of BP's achievements in the West have already been claimed and at least grazed by what was a rookie girl group at the time, and a likely one hit wonder group has the biggest girl group song in Billboard history.
BP literally has the most streamed year for any girl group of all time though?
BP has like 6 songs with higher peaks than Super Shy, so again "accomplished more" is hyperbole.
The point that some of their achievements have been touched, not all, which it seems you have come to realize since your original statement. -
The most significant achievements are all I care about. Not who had the most streams for a week in a leap year during a solar eclipse.
Most weeks on the Hot 100
Most Spotify streams
Billboard 200 peak
Billboard 200 longevity
Those things. The fact is that Cupid is the biggest girl group song in Billboard history, and Super Shy matches what any other BP song accomplished.
Even if you favor BP, NJ is breathing down their necks.
The most streamed day and week for any girl group of all time on Spotify is a pretty big achievement no matter how you try to word it.
Super Shy did not match every thing that a BP song accomplished, some yes, others no.
Regardless, even your own words here go against the wording in your post. I don't know why you exaggerate your statements in the first post of your threads to then contradict them unless it's to spark engagement.
I never said I disagree with your BTS statement, since I said I agree with everything else. -
No, they don't. Peak is cool, but it's irrelevant compared to the longevity of Cupid. And Super Shy lasted longer on the Hot 100 than any BP song not carried by Selena Gomez.
Most streamed week is cool, but NewJeans has the biggest second week of sales in BB 200 history and tied BP for most weeks on the BB 200, while also securing the second biggest year of streaming in Spotify history. BP is barely fending them off or has already been surpassed in several metrics and records.
They're clearly not untouchable, since a rookie group already put hands on most of their records.
But you know what's even more clear? The fact they're nowhere near BTS. BP is much closer to NJ than they are to BTS, and their fans need to stop pretending otherwise.
There are levels to this.
Literally just responding to your statement "And all the accomplishments BP had on Spotify and Billboard? Already matched or exceeded by both NewJeans and Cupid."
Yes Newjeans has some records, but saying "all" when it is clearly far from the case is hyperbole; Even gave you examples that show it is not entirely the case. That's it. I wasn't responding to anything else in your post, considering I agree with the rest of it. -
BP still has tons of spotify and billboard achievements that have not been touched by cupid nor newjeans, even when excluding the various "firsts" they have that by definition won't ever be taken away. From highest peak on the Hot 100 for a girl group, to the most streamed week for a girl group/song on spotify, peak on the spotify global chart, global weekly chart etc. Claiming NJ and Cupid took those away are quite the exaggeration when most still remain.

Searching with Twitter, Twice had Japanese songs available to stream on Spotify as early as August 2017. Potentially earlier, but that's the earliest I could find evidence.
The account was opened earlier and had a few hundred thousand followers some months before that.
Twice's Korean tracks were added March 2018. So the people saying "late" 2018 are trying to downplay their lack of streams by saying a later date I guess.
Just for people trying to rewrite history. -
Need to make note that TWICE Spotify account was created in late 2018. They missed their most dominant years (2016-2018) with their most dominant hits (Cheer Up for SK and TT for Japan) at their peak viralness/height. But they still are making up for it in in six years. Not bad at all.
Anyways as a chart watcher, I'm curious how Illit and Le Sserafim will fair on BB Hot 100 in the later half of this year.
The account was created before then, it just only had the Japanese tracks until early 2018 when they added the Korean ones. idk why Once always pretend that wasn't the case.
Spotify wasn't very big for kpop in 2016/2017 so it wouldn't have changed things much, maybe an extra few hundred million to their total.
