Display MoreAs a consumer of catchy pop music predominately you don’t really need “talent” to have hit pop music. Ofc here the word talent is a bit vague I don’t believe kpop stars are as bad American pop stars because all kpop idols go through some amount of training but the bar is pretty low.
What’s needed is interesting concept and charismatic members(the charisma can be via looks or personality) : these are the reasons for K-pop’s success not things like talent.
Like some groups work harder than others to broadcast this charisma to a boarder audience while others don’t have to. E.g BP had his charisma from get go and a top company to market this charisma. While some others had to work a lot harder on their image and less company connection for their impact to reach a broader audience.
People keep arguing that who is more talented than whom in kpop when the truth is kpop is not about talent at all lol.
As an SM group stan you need to understand that SM vocalists are just on a level so high it becomes a moral argument to compare talent levels with them and other groups. SM goes to the ghettos the favelas the squalors the nooks and cranies the islands that are still in dispute between Japan Russian and Korea the most obscure places to find talent that is the best and while they do that most companies suffice with just looking in malls at Claire's or Hot Topic. Idols like Kyuhyun or Chen or Baconhgiegn are born with such incomprehensible levels of talent that even if Yoongi or Jungkook or Suga train for 69 years they won't be able to come close to them. At that point is it even fair to compare talent when some people are just innately born with so much of it? It becomes as moot as comparing wealth.
The bighit privilege that they were only able to have their debut performance on mnet cause someone cancelled their performance on that day unlike at present even small groups from small companies can easily have their debut performance on mnet.
Also let's not forget that BTS created Hybe privilege so that the groups in Hybe including the one in your profile can have brand deals within a week of their debut.
Ummm Big Hit was one of the richest companies in 2009 when BTS debuted Bamg PD literally gave them a dorm on gangnam AND pyongyang how can you say BTS aren't privelleged
you are acting ad if the other groups are super talented if anything objectively speaking none of them have great vocalists
and they have some members aren't that strong in some areas not sure why is only blackpink only singled out?
also people ( western artists) that have gone to their concerts are the ones that made this kind of comments they are overall good performers
Well Jihyo Yuju Solar Seunghee I can name like 50 more better main vocalists than Rose.
This isn't a slight at Rose by the way, YG just has a thing for giving their main vocals terrible technique. Even Park Bom from 2ne1 was one of 2nd gens weakest vocalists.
OP if you want a hit thread, take out the obvious option and leave the debatable options available. That will help

BTS - Are talented, but from what I've seen/read, none are considered as the pinnacle of talent in their respective strengths outside of the Army fandom.
New Jeans - excluding rap, a group of great all rounders
Twice - widely regarded as being a primarily visual group
Most deserving of success based on talent
BTS - built Hybe from their hard work
Twice - renowned for their hard work
BP - not saying they never worked hard but their output doesn't come close to the groups above
New Jeans - Can't put them above the others in this considering the scale and speed of their success

Rose while having a lovely vocal tone is one of the weakest main vocals in kpop.
Jisoo is one of the weakest dancers in kpop.
How is what you said about BP true at all? Lisa hard carries the group in terms of talent but that's it.

There are truly few pairings as iconic as K-Pop fans and fighting over which group gets to win the Suffering Olympics.
I wish I lived in this apparent Utopia where good things only happen for the hardest working and deserving people, while less success comes to everyone else.
Just remember that for every successful group in K-Pop, there are about 10 other groups that failed, regardless of how hard they worked or how much they "deserve" to succeed.
All that said....
Mamamoo is the most talented and hardest working girl group of all time and I will suffer no arguments to the contrary
Unlike literally all the other girl groups mentioned here, they started from the literal bottom of the ladder and climbed all the way to the freaking top, and they did that almost entirely with their talent, which is practically unheard of. And when they got to the top, they worked even harder, doing schedules every bit as busy as Twice while doing as many as four university festivals in a day.
But everyone else can argue over second place after Mamamoo!
