We also aren't going to pretend Get Up wasn't the #1 best selling album on the Billboard 200. Nor will we ignore the fact NewJeans put 5 songs on the Hot 100 in a single calendar year, which matches an all time record for any girl group, K-Pop or otherwise, in Billboard history.

Why did Twice not recover inspite of being one of, if not, the most dominant GG in Korea?

Imho it's because JYP and the creative department suck at 2 core areas.
They have no idea how to start or spot current or upcoming trends so everything feels out of date and boring.
Second, they have 0 ability to market their groups. Outside of their fandoms and their haters does anyone actually ever pay any mind or attention to JYPE groups anymore? Itzy will never recover unless a full clean out of the creative and marketing departments for JYPE happen.

First and foremost she is their boss and as a full grown, middle age woman with a decade experience in this business she knows the line. Some of the things the members have said about her and the way they talk about her shows us they don't see the line. They have known her since being young teens and it's apparent she has massive personal leverage over these girls in terms of support.
I don't agree with this relationship in any professional work environment period. Never mind in the hub of emotional abuse that is the Korean entertainment industry. It's a fucking odd relationship.
When you drop stats nearly 80% in some areas in a single comeback questions have to be asked, especially when MHJ already admitted the company entertains discussions about taking sales.

This isn't really true anymore though as Japan has become a more streaming focussed music market recently. Afaik the TR streaming service attached to Recocholu isn't very popular at all. Calling it the Japanese Spotify is wrong, it's more widely accepted to be the equivalent of the Japanese iTunes since it's the countries most popular music distribution service for downloads if FLAC and MP3s.
In terms of streaming almost every source talking about market share has Spotify, Apple, Amazon, Line and AWA as the 5 most widely used for streaming music with Spotify being the current top spot.
It debut with 56.9m plr, so not exactly all on her own, no playlisting.
Someone can check me on this, but that might be the biggest debut plr this year on Kpop.

Tokyo Dome is always going to be 50.xxx for groups and the difference is almost certainly only going to change based on the stage set up since all of these top GGs can easily sell out 1-2 days in a row in a very short time.
THe media play is so stupid. Like a top group shouldn't be counting if they can squeeze in an extra hundred or Two people when a real top group could comfortably buy 3-5 TDs in a year and sell em out in less than a few minutes.
