Why do you sound so dramatic while calling out the "dramatic g woke " generation. :melon_think:

And why are you so obsessed with silly things like "dramatic woke ppl" when there are more real problems like poverty and covid.

Oh please.. the subject itself warrants a dramatic response so that it gets into his/her head how silly or unimportant it is. Most people DO NOT CARE and only appearing to be woke so they cant get cancelled. Many K-pop groups ( famous one) made some slip in the past but it did not in any way diminish their popularity . That’s how irrelevant it is esp in Korea who you know dont actually care & beauty standards is to be whiter than white.

and btw, Heeseung’s N word was never confirmed nor do they have solid proof. Otherwise Belift or Hee will already apologize like what Jungwon did. They probably find it too petty to warrant a response.TBH, i saw more black engenes that do not even care vs those non-blacks appearing to be offended so they can be called “ woke”or “politically correct.

over dramatic “woke” generation are sometimes full of crap. i dont know. I don’t understand why put it as filter or the word in a song if it cant be used & said. They should stop doing that or perhaps we should NOT patronized anything that has forbidden word or emoticons. Goodness, there are more real problems( like poverty, covid) in the world and why people are so obsessed with silly things.

Well , I am a woman and the only K-pop girl group I listened is BP . I am not even the type who buys any of their album or merchs. I only do that for one bg. I know many who are like me who cant stomach kpop gg for their absurb sweet/cutesy songs in sexy outfits. We often wonder if their casual male fans are mostly old men who like to watch female videos in skimpy outfit 😂. That feels so wrong esp if the group members are mostly below 18. .

i am only referring to kpop gg. I will definitely listen more to Taylor Swift or Olivia Rodriguez over Kanye West or Justin Beiber . I never said they dont have female fans . I mentioned GP or casual listeners .GG have more casual listeners that are pre-dominantly male than female. Have you ever wonder why a sexy female video or mv will have a lot of hit in youtube? Who do you think is watching it? I think BP is an exception because their image was never a cute /sweet one hence they tend to pull casual female fans. I never bought any of their albums but I add their songs in my playlist because I like their image and their sound.

This is untrue GGs have more female listeners than BGs and the ratio of women to men is usually 50-50 tipping towards women. BGs just have a predominantly female audience in comparison to GGs. But women are more likely to listen to a GG than a BG.

I am a woman. The only k-pop GG that has appeal to me is Blackpink. Rest appear too cutesy /sweetie for me. I think k-pop GG has mostly appeal to GP in Korea which are pre- dominantly men. They dont buy albums but do great in streaming both in their K-chart platform & Youtube . Though they also have loyal female fans which are usually the ones that buy albums . In short, you’ll know who has more female fans based on album sales. Most men I know wont buy an album but probably watch youtube content of k-pop girl group ( cutesy or sexy) or listen to their songs in whatever platform . This is also the reason why most BG have higher physical sales. Women in general are loyal while men ( GP) will go the next younger GG when the group gets older. Only if you have accummulated a good number of female fans will a gg have a chance to retain their fame after 5 yrs. For now, it’s just BP or perhaps TWICE but I dont know them enough to like them. It’s too many members for me to remember.

It’s definitely impressive. There are more groups or soloist overall that charted in K platform than who can sell 1million in an album. Some can’t even do it with all their albums combined in a year. So it’s definitely impressive. It means massive fandom. And mass buying allegation is a crap since not all fans can buy so if a big number of them can, it’s still a good representative of one’s group selling ability.

For ENHYPEN, Ni-ki owns the views in Youtube but the number of likes from other members are not far behind. It tells you that he has younger fans who has time to stream but other members have better numbers in instagram ( Jay, SH), twitter ( Heeseung) ,individual v-live ( Heeseung), Weibo ( Heeseung). Other indication is the sales of their individual magazine covers (1st Hee,2nd SH, 3rd JW) and merchs/endorsements- I think HEE also topped this. but other members are not far behind.

Kepler is still new. I think non-fans are naturally curious of Bahiyyih hence they tend to check her out. We’ll see who is going to emerge the most popular when they have more engagement in different platforms. It is bound to happen that one member will be more popular than the rest. It happens in every group but it is hard to stan a group who you know is not permanent.I think that’s the problem — their fans are more solo stan who hardly cares about a group that will break up eventually.

NI-KI usually has 3/4 times as much views as the other members from enhypen, but he's isn't that much more popular than other members. enhypen members are still very balanced if it comes to popularity

Personally, I don’t think it’s a big deal. I like Hybe because I love Enhypen. I was never impressed by BTS music before (or of K-pop in general ) but gave it a try because they are Enhypen’s sunbaenims. But learned to like them as casual fan esp their growth in general. I also like SvT because of their personalities and cute interaction with ENHYPEN.Saw them before in person yrs ago but was never interested until now. So I am now listening to some of their songs and added it to my playlist. For TxT, I like some of their songs ( anti-romantic) and of course EN feat w/ Yeonjun Blockbuster. If that makes me a company stan, so be it. And then what? Does it make me irrational? Maybe.. but that’s me. It’s the same level as watching all Marvel releases regardless if it’s good or bad simply because you like their universe.

My point is, it starts with the artist you like. If their label treats them right, gave them music that suits your taste you also starting liking their company. You end up liking other artists under the same label because of the interactions among them . Honestly, I dont see it as a bad thing unless they are abusing their artists. I also dont care if they release a lot of overpriced merchs under the artists’ name. As long as my favorite group earned from it, I dont mind. You have an option not to buy if you dont have money anyways. It only becomes toxic if you are trying to pull every group down if it’s not under your favorite label. As if no one is better except those artists under the same label. We just need to respect each others’ personal preferences and stop thinking that if it doesnt suite our taste , it’s not good.

I even think that it is worst to only like one artist/group so intensely that they see everyone else as an enemy including their label. They dont want anyone to be successful except their favorite group. That’s more toxic . I find it actually scary and disturbing.

You always say Heeseung fans are young adults in their 20s and I'm just curious how do you know that?

I based it in twitter engagements. Mostly are college students or already working. If you also look at the fandom accounts who managed their cb , streamings etc, it was mostly Heeseung’s fans who are donating large amounts, buying magazine covers and albums then donate. I think Belift also knows this — if you look at WKorea magazine covers, they released more for Heeseung than the group cover . For example, in Ktown4U, all are showing sold out but if you look at the numbers, he sold 512 then the group cover is 200 plus next is Sunghoon with 200plus as well, Jungwon comes next. It was almost the same for other sites selling it. His fans are mostly not minors who live in allowances. Over-all , they played different roles, the maknaes are the younger generation stan attractors esp Ni-ki , hopefully they will not just stream Ni-Ki’s video but also the official mvs. Enhypen needs that boost. Personally, I think Jungwon, Sunghon and Sunoo are typical Korean Kpop Beauties. So they attract those type of fans who like it. While Jay, Jake and Heeseung are mostly attractive to international fans. Heeseung is probably the biggest stan attractors for young adult but Jay comes close too. They are the oldest and got that sexy and cool vibe too.
