If it’s in the contract, they have to.

The song is so great, can definitely a sleeper-hit. Brave girls need to promote the song, it is out of top 100 daily, which will make it hard to re-enter the chart in the future.

You feel that Billboard care too much about the money/engagement fandoms bring to truly care about the sanctity of their chart system.
They would have changed it years ago if so.
Them half-assing a question to BTS about it is a bitch move purely because I doubt they call out other artists for any manipulation in their interviews. People that that think there's not some xenophobia attached to it are deluded.
Just googling a random billboard article and this is how they put across Gaga's laughable attempts at bundling, something that also has no significance to music consumption and therefore is artificially inflating the listening habits of songs/artists.
They try and play it off completely. Articles like this BTS one will always be laughable until they actually change something and call out everyone.
Let be honest, some artists got call out for things they did for 1 or 2 weeks, not things happens for 13 straight weeks. I mean it happens so much that it becomes an issue to BB as only BTS a can make it work now. Bundle can work for others artists and it become a new normal. BB won’t make the changes because they are very meant to BTS. They threw shade to BTS on another article mention no2 as a new No.1, so very clearly, now they know what the answer is. I believe this conversation definitely happen any time and BB did the job. At least, we know from BTS and Hybe side,.
-
Then BB would nullify BTS ' multiple number 1s then. But why didn't they?
As if payola, bundles ain't chat manipulation? duh.
Would you do us a huge favor please? Complain direct to Billboard : subscriptions@billboard.com or contact them via telephone 800-684-1873 or 845-267-3072 (outside the US). Hopefully, you can help BB.
They know it, they threw shade to them before. They said every No.2 song is a new no.1. Armys were angry just last few weeks.

This is what is wrong with the article.

So this why people are salty af!? Lmfao
Its not their money so wtf is the problem?
they can do what ever they want as long as
they re following the bb rules.
But that is chart manipulation and people care about that.
-
Cause it was a shitty article with someone who clearly views KPOP is a certain way, and the answers seemed weird af, it looks HIGHLY edited. and why ask an artist about fandom activities? Like wtf is RM suppose to do/say?
this was never an issue when Bieber was begging his fans to mass stream playlists, or companies using bundles, if billboard doesn't like mass buying they can lower sales(I think they should)
they act like BB hot 100 was some perfect chart and is now forever tainted by BTS ARMY lol
JB got a lot of hate on what he did.
Bundles rules was changed to be stricter.
Nicki no.1 BB a also got hate, Taylor lower her music price for No.1 also got call out.
There is no way BTS with the fandom manipulation doing for 9 weeks at No.1 get exemption.
-
-
And fan and BTS got a lot of criticism for this behaviour. BB and BTS have to come to a point both of them get into this debate.
-
How exactly are they “manipulating charts”??
I think using the money funded oversea to buy music in the US clearly a type of manipulation.

But what fandom doing is a kind of chart manipulation, they did this for 13 weeks now for Butter and 32 weeks for Dynamite. I came across many articles provide criticism about this behaviour . BTS clearly knows about this. Do they feel happy that their song inorganic due to fandom power? They love their fans so much but manipulation is a bad thing as well

I think it was a good choice for BB to ask BTS about the fandom donation to buy music in the US in the interview. What the fandom currently doing can be seen as a chart manipulation and get lots of criticism, controversial among western fans and press. There are many articles wrote about this, also BB has been quite shading them about this fandom buying power few times.
RM provided a good answer and put the work for BB to do their job. If they are not happy, they need to change the rule. I still think the Company (HyBE and Columbia) should also involves in the process of limited online store sale, but mainly it’s BB responsibility .

I think 15 weeks is a normal number for a big hit, also with their huge initial success, there short live in top 10 is disappointing. The new melon chart has proved the truly big hit will stay in top 10 longer.

My take is not this year, next year, when SM Does something like NCT2022, they will definitely have the best selling Korean album. I only think NCT2022 will do the job rather than NCT Dream or NCT 127.
Their growth is crazy, SM is smart focus on China, also other big SEA Kpop fans countries like Indonesia, Vietnam, … I expect NCT2022 will reach 6 million copies.

People talking about Butter underperforming is peak clownery while ignoring that they have 2 songs in top 10. MSG or NL did not take away the shine from Butter but having PTD in top 10 too divided the attention between the two songs.
Imagine coming for BTS who have been charting 2 songs in top 10 for 7 weeks. A particular fandom will never change in displaying their insecurity regarding BTS. Sad and pathetic but not unexpected.
If you look closed closer to the chart run of Butter, the song started high but lost momentum after few weeks atop the chart. I was in another thread put out said that if Butter can chart for 15 weeks, it will be very successful. However, it is not, take into the consideration that The current Melon chart is still slow and the users number hasn’t been rising back yet.
Dynamite is abnormal, but BTS chart performance in top 10 melon (minus Dynamite) is not good compared with other digital monsters. The gap between Dynamite and other BTS titles/ singles chart performance may lead to confusion about BTS digital, Dynamite doing the number 3 time their second best single.

BTS outdoes every group in terms of overall longevity, I'll take that over a melon weekly record. (which BTS already has anyway).
I meant the number of weeks in top 10 PER SONGS. Dynamite is abnormal, but apart from Dynamite, their second highest is 13 weeks, which is not really impressive at all. Other digital monsters like IU, BP, BB,… have more songs with many more weeks in top 10.
