It's Interscope, not YG. YG = physical albums and they're still at 50$, Interscope = Blackpink store and they waited monday to add digital album on the website.

YG fucked up with the physical sales price, that conpany is so stupid to think blinks would buy an album at 50$ + expensive tickets concert in the same week.

Blackpink is fine. It's YG being greedy and stupid as usual. It was obvious the physical sales will not be good with an album at 50$. They released individual digipacks later at 20-25$ but it's not even available on physical stores, like Target only sell the expensive Box in their stores and the digipacks are only on their website store. They finally posted the digital album on Blackpink store today, crazy they didn't do it before.

Another stupid move by YG was putting on sales the concert tickets few days before or even on release day for general sales, tickets expensive as hell of course. If blinks had to make a choice between an album at 50$ or getting tickets the later win obviously.

And finally the 8 songs tracklist disappointed many fans + YG lying about Blackpink having big promo. I guess for them big promo was VMAs.

Just to say, yes it's sad for Blackpink but YG deserve it for the mismanagement and all the scamming they did using Blackpink brand.

    DeuxMoi posted about Blackpink today.

If they're disappointed maybe they should just start to do their job? Ice Cream is the only song they sent to radios (impact), gave some playlisting on spotify but still only give some radio itws as big promo, Selena carried the promo on internet.

Another example is "Money", the song was viral etc... but Interscope did nothing to promote it. They sent the song to radio after its peak....

As for that podcast, it's just billboard journalist who think Interscope must be disappointed but doesn't point out how Interscope (and YG) do the bare minimum for BP.

    They won't get tired! :pepe-shame:

    But What is Digipack?

    Digipack is this

You have a cd, photocards and folded poster. It's for individual members, basically if you want to be sure to get your bias photocards, you buy a digipack. And price is between 8-12$ .

For Aespa they have 6 digipack versions, 4 members, 1 group version and 1 target exclusive.

There is many reasons for the album sales boom

1- Kpop is bigger now, in 2020 when BP sold +1M copies only 2 groups had more than 1M sales : BTS and NCT. Now you have more Boys Groups ( Seventeen, TXT and Stray Kids joined them + more NCT subunits). As for Girls Groups, Twice latest album is around 900k, Red Velvet (without WW distribution) 600k, Ive (single album, no WW distribution) 600k. New groups (from big agencies) 1st albums are selling 200k minimum

2- Worldwide distribution. Kpop albums are available in many stores around the worlds, more kpop acts get WW distribution deal so higher stocks orders.

3- Companies are now doing Digipack. It allows fans to bulkbuy more albums and inflate sales. Digipack have individual versions (with photocards) and are cheaper than buying a standard/photobook edition, solo stans/fanbases will likely buy this instead of a group versions. NCT have individual digipacks, Treasure too and now Aespa. More kpop groups will have digipacks in the future. There is also jewel cases for some kpop groups, like Ive, it's also cheaper.

YG main goal for Blackpink is the World Tour, not the Comeback. They're most likely trying to book dates for the tour and will put the comeback just before it start. I don't think we're getting The Album roll out, it will probably be a mini album, or an album if we're lucky, with a korean title track, 2 weeks of promo on Korea music shows and 1 or 2 US shows and then start of the world tour. So my guess is comeback around september/october, tour starting in october.
