The rumor going around is that The Grammys gave The Weeknd an ultimatum: them or the Super Bowl. The Weeknd chose to perform the Super Bowl.

Yes I knew it was probably because of the super bowl issue, still I thought I remembered him participating in a Recording Academy event prior to the nominations but I might have been wrong

The thing is Hyunjin wasn't ever dreaming to be an idol though, he was scouted and really got there the easy way... I think he (back then) had some issues with his autonomy and I could imagine this could happen to anyone who was put through such a disgusting training period without the guarantee that it'll be worth it, the survival show was just awful I felt sorry for them alllll.. but I do think idols in general a lot of them do heavily depend on this idol life and fans and to be crying on a stage was just a bit worrying, at how much he was affected when nothing had actually happened in regards to them as individuals... but I think hyunjin is just an emotional guy, I think now he has learned to not care so much of public opinion and learned to love himself and have faith in himself from what I read in a recent interview and relies less on others to make him happy

We all have our own battles so I am not slating any of them honestly they're doing great for where they are and the industry they're in, it's just sad to see what the industry has done to them...

Yeah I agree that idols do go overboard, but there isn't any need and thats where I personally separate the blame from them and the industry - I understand when they do it to please fans but maintain somewhat a boundary and aren't afraid to show their discomfort, but when they actually look like they're enjoying it and thriving off it Im a bit like heh lmao thats a bit weird?? JK looks like he looooooves the attention lmaoooo like he doesn't even seem bothered. And for example, I notice this specifically in Hyunjin a lot, Chan doesn't really exhibit this type of fan service, but if you see Hyunjin fan calls online I actually feel like vomitting and it made me lose some respect for him and I cant take him to seriously or the whole he is humble narrative that is pushed, Idk its just careless, I wish they didn't feel the need to do this, but for those who actually enjoy it, I do feel a tiny type of way about it.

Omg Felix' parents still weren't happy even after debut, I saw a two kids room of him and he said his parents still aren't happy about it even tho he had reached some success... not saying it was bad for him to go but the way he went about it wasn't the more respectful towards his own family, so I do see a little bit of spoilt traits in him bc of that...

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but I struggle to see how someone who hasn’t shown himself on any public platform for almost 2 years (and the few times he actually does it’s during group promotions and he’s always in the back) apparently “loves the attention”

Obviously major award shows are all about catering to the voters but that doesn’t automatically guarantee a nomination, The Weeknd did campaign but he was still snubbed

Unlike the oscars no one ever knows what the Grammys want so it’s really hard to tell, but it’s more likely they’re not gonna win this time

- BE was extremely forgettable which is worse than if I’d actually hated it, there’re songs which I do dislike but beside that I feel very mildly about it. With every other album there’d be at least a couple of songs I really liked but not with this one, even if some tracks are good they don’t really stick

- I see this mainly the few times I still use Twitter but an overwhelming amount of fans are deranged and proudly so. It used to be side-eyed whenever someone acted like a jealous girlfriend and I don’t know why it’s become a thing this past year, but you can see that what started off as a play on the delusional fangirl trope became an outlet for these people to actually voice their obsessions without being called out. It’s so bad that whenever a member is seen in the vicinity of a woman I gotta witness one viral ‘I can’t breathe he’s cheating on me’ tweet after the other and it’s unbearably corny, not to mention the times they end up stalking these poor people. like stop projecting over random celebrities, or at least don’t get mad when people write you off as a bunch of rabid teenagers when a lot of you do everything in your powers to fit that stereotype to a t

- I hate dynamite but this is probably not that controversial, same with the auto tune thing

-stop Victoria justice-ing every time someone praises a specific member, they all have different sets of skills and it’s ok to acknowledge that

- as a semi-casual stan, dreamcatcher could really do without the rapping, they’re all good to really good singers including Dami and I’m sure she’s a lovely girl but most times when she raps she sounds like there’s a frog inside her mouth

Western culture hegemony and the entitlement of mainly US Americans to have their history know by everyone else are absolutely a thing but it usually concerns very insular issues and not, you know, a world war that affected 3 continents not even a century ago, that’s just a very performative way to misuse a legitimate problem. Plus she already joked about hitler in the past so It’s clear she’s not oh so unaware, and even if she couldn’t recognize nazi imagery coupled with everything it’s still not a good look at all and doesn’t make it any less insensitive
