I wouldn't call any of their vocals "insane" but each member can competently sing a song while sitting down (which is the true measure of a singers capability, which kpop stans confuse with singing while dancing which demonstrates stability/stamina)
However all members outside the "vocal line" (Hyein, Minji, and Haerin) have pleasant tones but show some struggle staying on key. Obviously they are all so young they will undoubtedly improve this with more experience.

Hyein is also pretty decent with a nice tone but goes of key from time to time but she is quite young tho and has a room for improvement.
Minji on the other side has a very lovely and warm tone but she struggles the most with pitch and control. I'd say she is the only 'weak' vocalist in the group. (and she definitly gives me of more actress vibe)
That aside, i really think that Hanni's and Dani's vocal colors are genuinely insane. Dani just blew me away for real . They are average and capable 'vocalist' not insane ones for sure but they tones are probably the best in the whole 4th gen i think, clearly (alongside Winter).

danielle's cover of paris in the rain was INSANE. I mean her voice is wow gorgeous, she sounded even prettier than Hanni and i'm shook
Dani may have the prettiest and loveliest vocal color in 4th gen man (alongside Winter)
But Hannis voice has something etheral and touching about it. Like it has a very nostalgic feeling, very emotional
Also I LOVED their song choices, Oohyo, Nell, Hyukoo (?) Damn!

Really really cute and i love her smile

(G)I-dle
Favorite kpop discography after Dreamcatcher and Exid. I love the fact that every song is composed by a memberEverglow
So many bangers, great lineupPink Fantasy
Poison is amazing and the members are also very interesting and talented (they have the best 4th gen vocalist Yechan)Everglow does have bangers

(G)I-DLE, ITZY, Purple Kiss. I have no order of preference.
I like ITZY because they exude a warm and carefree energy in their music and which can also be found in their performances on stage.
For (G)I-DLE and Purple Kiss it's the fact of having very distinct concepts that attracts me, they have diverse and varied concepts but always in their image. I also like the fact that they are very involved artistically.
that's always so cool

Now that so many gg's have debuted specially in 2022 and 4th gen is pratically semented, who are your best (favorite, concept, members, talent, overall) top 3 gg's out there?
My top 3 is:
Number 1 : New Jeans (by faaaaaaar)
They are masters at concepts at this point and their aesthetics are on freaking point (completly my style), the girls all have crazy star power and such pretty voices, each of them could hit big either as singer, model or even actress. And they are all so GORGEOUS and lovebale it's almost impossible to not fall for them 😍. But the best things about them is definitly their music and their desire to florish as artists and musiciens. (Anyway i could write an essay or two on them so i'll stop here lol).
--------------------
They are the best when it comes to rap, girl crush, etc like NO comparaison, NO competition. Except CL i have never seen anyone at this level when it comes to this concept.
Members like Jurin, Harvey and Cocona are literal diamonds, beasts and could each of them slay as a soloist. Also their vocal line is smoooth and the vocal line girls are so cute 😍 (Juria and Hinata) while the others are more hot and fierce. Anyway i see sooo much potential in them. With the right exposure and promo they could be a game changer type of groupe.
Number 3: aespa
aespa is third for me just because 2 of my biases are in it aka Winter and Ningning 🥰. Winter basicaly has the prettiest vocal color i have ever heard since IU and she is deadly cute i can’t >-<. And Ningning is the real ACE of the group. That girl is gorgeous, great vocalist, really good dancer and her personality is just the best thing about her lol, she is so funny and joyful i don't know, she's irresistible, secially since spicy and even savage she is WOW. She is a STAR.
Also aespa has really good vocals, all of the girls can sing and their music is top tier in term of quality despite lackluster title tracks. Basically their have a lot of potential to do great but they need better TTs. And they need to go of the childish, teenish concept it doesn’t suit them nor their music. With such voices they should also focus on a more melodic music and stop the lackluster endless rap parts as well.
Anyway aespa are in my top 3 because mostly they have more remarquable members than Ssera because music wise it's pretty close. Actually Sseras tt are better in my opinion. (except unforgiven)
Special mention: Ssera and 50 50 just for the quality of their music and the production

Oh really? My bad. Well i think that actually confirms what i say. To me this groups belong to the same gen. Which in this case is 3.5.
4th gen cant start before 2020. 2018-2020 3.5 gen and 2021+ 4th gen, but covid delayzd it for around a year so it's more 2022 overall i think.
But on the other hand the possibility that the 4th gen was distented because of covid would make sense too. Like during a year and half it felt like the world was sleeping or something. And 4th gen group debuted after that when maybe they would have debuted sooner you know. But i still think that 2021 is the latest we can go fot 4th gen.
-
it's because the media and people were starting to speculate about a generation shift it started in 2019 and dala dala was very succesful too also 2019 was the year that most 3rd gen groups had hits it was the best year of kpop in terms of impact it was a great year for many 3rd gen groups then
Yes the shift was taking place and 3rd gen was ending but just not yet. And I think 0.5 gen lasts minimum 2 years. So 2018-2020 is more 3.5 gen and 4th gen started more in 2021, but since covid took place and i think many group got probably delayed to 2022 when the real gen shift actually happened with not less than 5/6 important gg that debuted .
-
guys how can itzy be the start of 4th gen when they debuted only a year after idle everglow loona who are considered 3.5 gen?? how can 0.5 gen last just a year?
yes itzy debut was extremely successful and it did felt like the debut of something new or at last the premices but again im not sure a group alone can really represent a whole generational shift. I think they most likely belong to 3.5 gen with idle loona and everglow.
even aespa squized in the 4th gen because of their national hit next level in 2021 but by then itzy had already lost a lot of the impact they had.
When 4th gen actually really took of (in my opinion in 2022/21) with the debut of most major gg right now like ive ssera nj 50 50 xg but also nmix and soon bm, itzy had already lost a lot of the impact they had when they debuted.
So i think itzy debuted at a strange time and should have probably debuted a year or two later but they most likely belong to 3.5 gen rather than 4th gen in my opinion. And i dont think 4th gen took of with them and neither with aespa actually. aespa too was more like an intro to 4th gen in my opinion.
-
to me it feels like idle everglow loona are 3.5 gen and itzy is on the bridge between that and 4th gen.
I think itzy debuted at a strange/awkward time when 3rd / 3.5 gen was ending but 4th gen hasn't started yet. I don’t think a gg can be 4th gen if they debuted before 2020.
also they started declining pretty fast and by 2021 they lost a lot of the impact they had in their debut. I think JYP should have waited a year or two before debuting them btw.
And looking back, I agree that aespa debut is not necessarily a new gen debut. Because I have the feeling that for a new gen to really kick off, you need more than one impactful group for that weather it's itzy or aespa. And except aespa and maybe stay C there was not really anything much happening in 2020 (the year of covid).
by the way i do think that on top of that covid distorted time smh. Groups that should have debuted a year ago where probably pushed of a year later or something so that also had an impact on the generation shift.
What i personally think is that in fact 4th gen actually started in 2022 (late 2021) with the debut of most prominent and impactful ggs right nows, like Ive, Ssera, New Jeans, Fifty Fifty and also XG. Even nmix debuted in 2022 and BM is coming in 2023. Truly i think this new gen kicked off in overall 2022 with hit songs like Love dive, Hype boy and Antifrigile and later on Cupid. We don't know yet when it's gonna end but i think we are in start of it.
On a side, Next level kicked of the 4th gen national hit race so i guess that would put aespa in the 4th gen too but that doesn’t necessarily means that 4th gen really started with them. Next level was more like an intro to 4th gen. Like a prelude that defintly put an end to 3rd gen all togheter.
That's my opinion on the matter. So in conclusion i think we are at the start of a very promising 4th gen specially with groups like NJ, Ssera, Fifty Fifty and even XG. I think it's gonna be 4th gen still for 3-5 years but I have no clear idea when it's gonna end tho. Time will tell i guess. But truth be told the later you can go back for 4th gen i think is 2021 so if you add 6/7 years to that 4th gen should end around 2027/28.

It's completely deserved too. The song is almost a year old and I'm not remotely tired of it yet. Still the most viral song in Korea and got a second life from recently becoming a meme
a meme? how so?

that's a real hit song and a bop right here!

Agree, Welcome to my world sounds like quality over charts, it's hard to kpop song doesn't repeat a word or phrase in a aggressive way to sound more catchy, WTMW is rather calm and intriguing.
Yeah well im sure if it was promoted as a lead title track it would have done better on the charts too actually
But yes i agree, and wtmw is actually pretty addictive but not in an annoying or agressive manners. It's beautifullly addictive. An aquirred test sort of addiction. it like stays stuck and want you to come back over and over again and since the melodies are not too repetitive or strong it feels like you can listen to the song like a 100 times and not get tired .
I think this song is musically speaking a masterpiece in it's genra but also beyond. It also flows in perfectly well with aespa's identity and develops their lore when the y2k vibes and aesthetics feel a bit forced.
-
...the best song SM released since Psycho and since INVU and probably the best song released this year by a GG. (Welcome to my world, Ditto, Cupid are my top 3)
WTMW is pure beauty, dreamy, mysterious and majestic. And so freaking catchy! (Specially the 'this city's so pretty when your lights on' is pure eargasm )
I thought Unhappy would be my fav but nope WTMW is far superior. That song transcends kpop.
I can hear the SM superior quality music spark in it again.

Next level (aespa) hands down the worst, it's painful to hear
I am (ive) ambarassingly kitsch and outdated and almost a shame for a top GG
+nmix but they're kinda irrelevent
+pink venom but i don't listen to bp so I can’t comment much
+ birthday RV just straight to the trash cane, like it never happened
+ very disapointing OMG releases even since dun dun dance
+ many nct songs
