    What happened with ab6ix sales?

Basically they didn't count their real sales and wrote whatever number they "predicted" they would sell. All because an employee didn't go to work that day

They drag china sales because their faves dont have much. Non-ship back album purchases happen in all countries including korea (where they dump the albums and took out inclusions only). Not sure why China is always singled out

Exactly, I just search about it on twitter and there are even fans from my country (peru) doing that, fansites from north america too but ofc they are 100% legit and the best ever they would never cheat like these c fans...

If a sale was made in China buy a regular person who just bought it to keep the album (either buying alone of buying in mass buying projects) is alright

What I don't think that should qualify as a sale is the non ship back category. If the product is not being delivered to anyone then it's shouldn't be counted as a sale. It's plain and simple

It's unfortunate we will never have a reliable company counting copies sold like Oricon or Nielsen for kpop, because even if we had people would then ignore them favoring Gaon, as Gaon numbers are higher and easier to cheat with non ship back strategies (remember Gaon counts copies produced, not sold) companies, awards and fandoms would just all ignore the sales system and turning it irrelevant, just like they are slowing doing with Hanteo

That's the problem, why are people attributing all these non-shipped sales to chinese fans? a simple search on twitter shows me there's fans from thailand, malaysia, indonesia, philippines, etc and even english and spanish speaking fans doing that but somehow only cfans are the problem? ofc we don't know what's going on weibo and chinese sites but it's weird to me how everything is blamed on cfans like they are the only ones doing bulkbuying or non shipped backs

Gaon isn't easier to cheat with the non ship backs, most fandoms using that method buy via ktown4u and that store is hanteo certified, right? they also pride themselves on all their copies sold being counted in hanteo chart first week so from the looks of it both charts are easy to influence with that strategy

And hanteo deserves to be forgotten I can't believe they still did that with ab6ix sales like nobody would notice

which group do you think will reack 1 million sales first?

I listed the ones that surpassed a certain amount only because if I included every single group it would be an infinite list... I think the ones coming back soon will have the advantage but I have no idea when most of these acts will comeback lol but my vote goes to twice, they are the ones closer to the amount based on their latest album sales

it's really rare to see a group growing sales on big amounts but not growing engagement, views, streams, digitals, etc at least the ones I follow are incresing all or most of their metrics with each cb.

and most groups haven't started their tours yet so only in the end of the year we could see the results

another user replied to you with the tweet indicating sticker sold above 50k copies in the US this year and 127 ranking in top 10 best selling artists this year there yet you choose to ignore it

hanteo also showed the increase of sticker from 1.31m in 2021 year-end chart to 1.35m in may this year. 40k copies may not be as much as other artist restocks but it's not zero sales like you make it seen

it's indeed something fishy, I only saw a snsd fanbase doing that recently and it make side-eye them but thankfully most sones were saying they wouldn't do that

but do you happen to know which fanbases are doing that? the exact amount of albums sold that are non-ship backs? because I'm wondering how can we know which album sales are more/less legit if there isn't any data about it, just guessing?

I liked catch the stars a lot more so this is kinda a disappointment musically but i'm glad the girls are releasing music and promoting, hoping all the best for them! so many underrated groups disbanded recently so wooah being active is something to smile about

Well for years in Kpop the discrediting drag was 'you sell high cos bulk buying' and now we're in an era where that's actually true so I expect the drags to keep consistent.

I don't think it's a big deal, but I also don't think people should be expected to treat a group that sell hundreds of thousands more legitimately and one that's company sells a bottom dollar price to mass buyers(especially those who do non shipped backs) equally because, well it's not really the same.

serios question, how do you differentiate between legit album sales and these that aren't? afaik all groups recently sold cheap digpacks/jewel cases outside the usual photobook, some even sold special versions released weeks after the official date, so it's safe to say all kpop is illegitimate? :/

Maybe because China sales most of the time hard carries the sales of a comeback, like 60% or 80% of sales are concentrated there but fans claim the group is "global"? (Not really sure abt the numbers, it's just a sample.)

based on cbars reports, the most I have seen from them is almost 50% for baekhyun and red velvet latest album, also something g-dragon released iirc.

there's no act having more than 60% of their sales being from china, that's an exaggerated amount. most of million sellers have a way lower percentage coming from chinese fans than you think.

even then, in the case of c-fans buying around 500k and the other half coming from the rest of the world, it's a big thing enough to be called a worldwide group imo

they are tho, shows how informed you are :clown:

Sohye ALSO didn't deserve to debut because she had a bullying history, literally punched a girl in the face, and put on a whole freaking act of being innocent and clumsy. Just saying

    :pepestare:

Yeah that too, but her bullying scandal is too unknown I didn't even remember it. She was the only member I stopped following once the group disbanded, I was never interested on her tbh and she deserves to be forgotten

if the catalog sales are barely moving, then we can take a good guess it is.

Sticker, an album released in September last year, was still moving copies in february this year

Karina was accused of magically badmouthing 3 members from the 3 top boy groups before we even got the first teaser.

The girls were likened to prostitues as soon as their concept was announced.

People made up rumours about SM opening a hotel business for the avatars to provide sexual services to fans (just imagine how fucking vile and stupid people can be to believe this)

And most importantly the group was accused of supporting the uyghur genocide.

All of these were lies and rumours that kpop fans believed at face value and weaponised them against the girls. People literally didn't shut up about the sex services shit until SM had explicitly threatened legal action. But, hey it's all in our heads.

I know if at least one of these things happened to one of their favorite bgs they wouldn't stop talking about it (rightfully) but since it's aespa it doesn't matter it's normal criticism and they deserved it because SM stans are annoying.

Just recently someone reposted all the predebut accusations about aespa, and people were really claiming SM would use the aes for genocide....

Black Mamba broke the record of the lowest rated song in Melon's history :pepe-cringe:

It's always the people that obviously don't like Aespa and are shady toward them who go around denying the fact they're one of the most hated kpop groups.

I don't know why some people think saying a group is hated is wanting to play victim or seeking attention, like I know Mys would rather aespa be ignored and don't be talked about than them getting all these nasty attacks but it's what it's, we can't deny the hate train they have suffered since debut till now, with people on this forum being one of the worst offenders (can't forget the "SM mediaplay" accusations when the girls where harassed on a school)

not even 2 years in the industry and having the whole kpop fandom against them, the girls did it!

    Where? When? How? Lol

hit tweets hating on them each day + YouTube videos with thousands of views spreading negativity and nasty rumors + Reddit and translation sites being full of users leaving terrible comments about them, it's safe to say they became one of kpop's favorite punching bag, especially during the Coachella week. Even in korea they had the record for the worst rated debut song on melon or something like that, and pann can't leave them alone
