This is about SNSD and GG’s why are you linking BG’s. Lol. SNSD is far less profitable than twice will ever be. Not just SNSD also the whole of 2nd gen.

Apart TVXQ there was also BIGBANG who had a tour with over a million attendees. So like not sure why you brought up this weird stat like I don’t know about BG’s touring in 2nd gen lol.

Twice is special because they completely ended 2nd gen GG’s who were never able to take off in touring like their BG counterparts and now only release music “for fans” and do nothing else as a group. Building huge profitable fandoms comparable to any BG only happened in 3rd gen.

Seriously, you know 2nd generation ended like 10 years ago? Most kpop-fans move away from kpop long before 10 years in kpop. Well of cource Girls' Generation don't have many active fans today, because they are grown up and need to work and take care of their daily adult life. (Same with other 2nd gen groups). It will be the same with NJ, Aespa, Blackpink etc. when you look back on it 15 years from now. Ah yes... 15 years, you will not be kpop fan then.

PS I’m not a huge NJ stan so not sure why you brought up NJ I enjoy music from both NJ and twice casually.

Visuals matter, but to have people to pay to watch you perform is obviously bc your music is liked so yeah, they became popular bc of their music and others facts.

I stand by what I said.

They released like a billion songs in their career and most of them were of poor quality. Now you may believe it’s possible to release exotic top class songs like clock work every so often but this but objectively and realistically it was never possible.

JYP’s focus was building the fandom NOT releasing quality music.

Twice are the example of a perfect idol group. Their music was never good and that’s not why they became popular.

They are good performers who really showcase what it means to be an idol and that’s their strength. A side effect of being great idols is having hits during their early career as they were also trendy. They built a loyal fandom which is far more important and that’s what GG’s found difficult to do and that’s why they’re special.

SNSD is meaningless as group and the songs they release is just for charity. They are neither active as a group nor will they ever make as much money as twice as a group

This is true for most 2nd gen GG’s. They never had anything going for them nor were they interesting enough to ever truly build a long lasting fandom.

And no SNSD or 2nd gen group don’t really have any lasting fandoms. And if they did have some small fandoms their own idols don’t believe enough in their fandoms to make being an idol a career.

I think that the answer to your questions is indeed yes. But idol fans will not admit it because we want idols to be good people.

I very much blv many ppl involved with YG knew about burning sun I don’t doubt it at all. And yes they have been complaisant about it.

Same for any other company.

The key is to not care that celebrities are not good ppl and die on any hill defending them.

Being trendy is only needed for newer acts. Ppl will see twice in concert even if they never chart again.

I mean I think they do deserve blame and consequences and need to be called out to do better. I don’t think you can be such an integral part of a company and escape the drama that happens to the company so I hope armys don’t argue that.

Now do I personally care? Not really cuz I never thought bts or any idol really was a good person nor had any real morals.

But armys who loved to harp about the goodness of bts certainly need to come off that high horse and self reflect on why they tried to build that rhetoric for some completely random men of all. Won’t catch me dead calling any man “good” like my life depends on it
