I did well today
Not much of a difference between like 10 weeks and 12 weeks… But there’s a world of difference between 5-6 weeks and 8 weeks. It was hugely talked about back in the day. Even kfans were mad about it Kek.
If lotto was the first comeback of the year for exo 100% it would have charted like monster I have no doubt about it. Esp knowing how much kfans hated monster Kek.
Love Me Right, Lotto and Power all had between 2 months and a few days to 1 month and a half. For me they are all similar in timing, apart from like 10? 15 days? What did change that much?
I think the amount of content in the second half of the year, hurt more the releases after Lotto than Lotto itself because It came first than Hey Mama, Dancing King and For Life. I would say It might have hurt Lotto's longevity, but even If It did, I don't even think It was the main problem, because there were a time were Monster started to outchart Lotto even through It was released earlier.
Yes the extras couple of weeks would have made all the difference to build hype within the fandom. Those two extra weeks is exactly what made the difference between being hyped for a cb and it just feeling like a main cb rolling over. Even a couple of weeks of break in promo makes all the difference in building momentum. This was like they were promoting and then few days later after promo stops. New comeback.
If you see other groups you can notice this too. Longer breaks between album and repack helps charting.
Lotto didn’t have hype so it didn’t chart. Monster already had the hype. It’s always about generating and building hype within the fandom.
I think when It comes to Power and Lotto, It also had to do with the songs. I don't see them charting much higher or having much better longevity If they had more than 1 month and half of different from the standard or being the standard's title track (even through I deeply love both).
Love Me Right and Love Shot were through similar situations and they were able to became hits, because they went the right songs to appeal to the public.
But despite the bad reception of both, they managed to release KKB after Lotto, one of their most successful releases in Korea and Universe, Tempo and, especially Love Shot, a hit in Korea and their biggest international hit. So they were far for making them losing momentum indeed.
No LMR had longer time power and lotto were very short. With BGs it’s not the song quality EXOL would have made it chart.
LS is kind of special case but in terms of digitals points it didn’t actually out chart tempo. What actually happened was there was no release after LS for like a whole year. Exol had nothing to do other than streams LS.
After power and lotto there were winter releases. Actually during lotto there was cbx dancing king winter album and I think also Japanese song. And after Power we had universe which was up after a suitable gap and was worth streaming hence.
For BGs with fanbases it’s never about song quality. Exol would have made any song chart given the time. Esp in 2017 and 2016 lol.
And that was less to do with the song and more to do with SM dropping the repack 4 weeks after the title track like who does that SM. Kek.
Lotto and Power were pretty much the only misses tbh in terms of chart performances. But like even then every single exo song other than DFTF debuted top 20 of the melon daily chart including lotto and power.
I mainly just watch music videos, performances, and dance practices. I also like watching covers or other music or dance based content. I'll occasionally watch clips of other things that get recommended to me but I don't generally seek them out. I don't really feel the need to know that much about the idols personally. Music and performance is enough for me.
Like I literally don’t want to know that much about idols please
I just want them to have nice on stage personalities because that makes for good performances. Like nice audience interaction and stuff.
But apart from that I don’t want to hear their life stories. I literally could not care less.
I never finished watching exo ladder.
Small series like exo arcade and couple of interviews are more than sufficient for me. Anything longer and I have no motivation to check it out lol.
Display MoreIf BTS's next title doesn't do as well as past songs, PTD will be to blame tbh
Winner - SoSo (?) after Really Really, they had too many songs that sounded the same
EXO - Kokobop (I don't have stats to back this up, but it seemed like their momentum started to slow after KKB)
Seventeen - that coldplay soundalike - it seems like their titles started getting less hype after that song
We didn’t have digital points for kkb and it was aided by mass downloads which dropped after the melon reform but if you want time spent on the actual charts both universe and love shot out lasted kkb in the melon daily chart/ Gaon top 100.
And ofc LS and DMUMT as an album is many times more popular than kkb/the war internationally.
How can anyone say kkb when ls is their most hyped and overrated song ever idols still covering it every other day, going strong on YouTube and Spotify
those 144p videos of tour were the best thing ever
i miss it so much
i probably would not have stanned them that fast if they were not on tour at the time
scrolling through insta to find new videos every hour was so fun honestly
LITERALLY PEAK FANDOM
I loved them so much. It was the same songs over and over again but it was still the best experience
Literally l need nothing.
For me live performances was the peak of stanning life. I remember when exo cons were on and we would have those shaky twitter periscopes. PEAK FANDOM EXPERIENCE.
I guess that’s why I stan exo and it worked out for me.
I can’t even understand why people want their idols to talk to them or show them their personalities. Like it doesn’t even compute for me.
Seeing interviews esp group ones is enjoyable but like it’s an addition just something extra to have occasionally. I don’t need those frequently. One or two for the WHOLE year/cb cycle is good enough for me.
Man I like when celebrities are far off untrainable figments of my imagination. It’s better.
I mean that unironically.
New year new me
The part about the performance having many cuts while filming and having a recorded live vocals for that is the most common form of lip sync in kpop. Personally I just watch those for the dances. For live vocals, I only like ones where it’s one take. Like in concerts.
I think it grew on me.
I just felt that both groups lost a lot of casual listeners and hype after these songs.
And exo was ridiculed a lot even by international fans for releasing this song they changed their whole image with this song.
So no they didn’t lose momentum? Just that you perceived they lost fans? When universe Tempo and LS each have like 500mil digital points and charted for months on Gaon and love shot and tempo both crossed 100mil streams on Spotify and LS will cross 500mil on YouTube? EXO literally had their most successful comeback after power.
Y’all be saying anything lol.
Time for a change
Wait, omg. I just realised, belatedly, that tic tac toe was an allusion to x o
ISaidISaid my friend, you're a genius
This made me sound way more smart than I am but I was looking for a username with exo and was typing xoxxo and my brain was like let’s do tic tac toe
