I been a kpop fan since 2009. It was shinee's julliete that hooked me and the rest of genre was even more. To be honest, it was the way kpop never looked down on older sounds that caught me. I always been a bigger lover of the 80's 90's and early 00's than post 2010's.
However 2020 was a bad year....and kpop sucked too. I thought this year would be better and much like the pandemic in the US it was actually worse.
I listened to every group this year and I hated every single song. Am I just too old for this genre now?

Showing vulnerability has always be seen as something feminine… so not really.
What you mean suicide has nothing to do with emotions ? You think a happy person would jump of a bridge
Anyway, yes women are more likely to suffer depression, but unlike men they are also more likely to seek for help or accept help, whereas men were often thought to be strong and bottle it up, in short they often don’t get the same amount of empathy and understanding as people would give to women. Which also results in them not even seeking for a professional in the first place. Also because of that there tends to be more substance and alcohol use among men who feel stressed, which increases the risk of committing suicide.
Ah so its a painful cycle.

Men aren’t less emotional, they were often not thought to probably deal with their emotions which often developed into aggressive behavior or their emotional outburst were excused… men could do the most irrational nonsense and were excused with “ he is just a man”, … the suicide rate among men is higher for a reason.
I do agree that men are taught to show no emotion but aren't women themselves taught to hold things in as well that they do not?
the suicide rate has nothing to do with emotion though, women have higher depression rates i believe.

They did this with big bang after alive so I'm not really surprise. It does create an interesting contrast.
BTS are the biggest boy band in the world and they never go away for more than a season.
blackpink is arguably the biggest girl group in the world and have what amounts to a season's worth of music
but to be fair, I think they have constant ads and endorsements which in all honesty make more money.

Is this true or false? I always wondered about this in the not just asia but in the music industry as a whole.

this is a question

I think what can make a difference is if a group had made it big/gone viral but the lack of/horrible promotions didn't support it.
Like iKon with Love Scenario
do folks forget what happened in January 2019?

There are no guarantees in the music industry.
There are several instances of groups with all of these things failing and vice versa.

Ikon really didn't make use of the love scenerio momentum. LS has 500M views on yt and 200M streams on Spotify. Massive stats in SK. This should have helped make them bigger in every way.
Never got a chance. The scandals hit the following year. Big bang haven't come back yet, so the jury is still out on them, but ikon did and was actively boycotted by their own fandom.
I still don't get how Blackpink escaped that hell unscathed,

I ain't no mind reader but she seems to be going a bit too hard in china for someone who's main career is in Korea.
