Conversation between Fromis9's Roh Jisun and a male fan

"Flovers. Please wash before coming to fanmeetings.
Jissaen says she gets disgusted when people don't wash. I'm washing my face before going!!"

Jisun: Use face scrub like me..
No you're already doing it, but [wash] with a shower... Yep yep..

This was said on Weverse on the 15th

    Their fanmeeting was today.
I'm curious to see if they washed..

    original post: here

    1. People really don't wash before going...? Imagine not washing before meeting your bias, how much less showers you take in your regular life

    2. No but why don't they wash.... Don't you want to make the best impression when you're meeting someone?

    3. Sigh there are so many people there, even if it's not a fanmeeting, isn't it basic etiquette to wash when you go somewhere crowded....? Don't you also take the subway?ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

    4. If you don't even wash, you have an issue with basic manners

    5. Seriously being a female idol must be disgusting

    6. Washing your face...? So they don't even wash their faces usually? I've heard from WJSN that their male fans also don't wash, but looks like Fromis9 has it more severe than them...It can't be helped to smell a bit during Summers so I can't imagine not even showering... I'm a fan living in suburban areas and I've never been to concerts so I don't know..

    7. I've been to a public event with a lot of male fans standing in front of us and it's indeed....

    8. Ewwwwwwwww.... So they can even smell that ?????

    9. I fangirl on a girl group with a lot of female fans and I went to watch them on Queendom and almost died from the smell

    10. 🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

  • This reminds me of that time a news reporter called out Armies for stinking on live television as he was reporting the concert lmao. That's what happen when people camp out for days to get the pit though.

God, I'm going to a concert in September and want the pit. Thankfully it's a smaller group and venue, so I hope to all in heaven I don't end up stinking by waiting there all day. Not gonna be me. Bringing wipes and fresh deodorant. I won't be the one funky packed in with a hundred something people.

No please take a shower or at least use a bathroom to fresh up, I’m very allergic to smell.

    ;(

Of course I'll take a shower before, but I can't take a shower while waiting or when they let us in. If you go to the bathroom, you'll probably lose your spot. The only solution is to try not to get there too early so you don't have to wait long, and to bring non-scented wipes to freshen up during. And to hope others do the same thing. If you want a good position.

  • The idea this people invest so much money for this fansigns for 5 min with someone they idolize and then they don't even try to look (and smell) their best

    like :pepe-hips:

    Yeah, I don't get that.

But why would you leave your house period without washing your ass? I never leave the house without showering, and if I have had a long sweaty day and know I will be going out at night, I shower multiple times in the day.

I can't imagine how little respect you have to have for yourself, the other attendees, and the group to go there and subject them to your funk. Like...is this how you live your everyday life? If so, I'm scared. Keeping yourself clean is like the base level of basic human hygiene.

The things artists have to go through. Then, for KPOP artists they have to smile in your face even if you stink or they'll be destroyed online for being rude.

The thing is, majority don’t do.

I was at the BP concert in Berlin and there were two people in front of of me who smelled like spoiled egg and I’m sure this wasn’t just sweat from waiting, they didn’t shower and they farted several times <X . 2h waiting was torture because of them.

That sounds like torture. I didn't know so many people in this world didn't consider washing your body a basic necessity.

I don't know how they can stand it. When I stink after going to the gym, I'm the first to notice, and can't even stand my own smell. Like, do you not smell that? Are you so used to smelling putrid you don't even notice anymore?

  • Keeping it real

Honestly washing up everyday is just the basic

It also reminds me of this post a while back that they put shawols down.

There was a open SHINee fan sign in a mall, and the dude made a post asking why shawols all did their hair and nails and looked like they were about to walk down the run way.

Overdressing doesnt hurt anyone, but stinking is sure as fuck gonna make your fav gag.

This, they are used to their own bad smell that they don’t even notice it anymore.

  • I would rather be at the back of the line if it means having good hygiene. In the US, there are still stereotypes about Black folks being dirty or unhygienic so we sometimes kind of over- compensate and are super sensitive about hygiene. That's honestly really on my mind all the time with stuff like this. I would rather not even see my bias then sit in line for a front spot but then that means I might be dirty and someone will think, "oh those Black people are always unhygienic!" I will not give ANYONE any reason to ever say that about me.

  • I also heard quite a few idols don't wash their hair or shower consistently. I guess they just use better perfume.

    Yikes.

Is this a Korean thing? Or a them thing I wonder? I know that deodorant used to be scarce in Korea because Koreans didn't use it a lot. Mostly because some Asian people have a gene where they don't sweat, which helps with BO. I also know in some parts of Europe they don't feel the need to use deodorant either. Not sure why.

Man, I wish I was blessed with not having to sweat. I sweat frequently, so I always carry deodorant and wipes in my bags to keep myself fresh.

  • These people experienced too much unconditional love from their parents. However, the world outside has conditions to be met.

That's terrible. Most people with respect for their bodies and others don't want to be that person.

But, I think there is definitely a way to have the best of both worlds. To get a nice place in line and still not smell like death hungover. You just have to be conscious of your own body and how it works and the length of the wait and concert and make precautions. Some people just probably don't care to do that. I understand not wanting to risk it though. Some people really don't care too much about being in the pit anyways, and some people care too much. In my opinion, personal hygiene comes first. Like how can you even enjoy the concert surrounded by your own smell lol? Like, you go in there sweating, and then you're probably going to sweat during too. One reason music festivals can be one of the most God awful smelling places because people marinate in their own juices for 3 days straight.

In Fromis's case though, I think it's literally a case of not giving af.
