It depends. Obviously they don’t know every fan out there, but they do appreciate them a lot and are sincere towards them. I mean it’s rare to see acts perform solely for their fans after they have been cut off from a show.

And they do recognize some armys from the crowd as could be seen in some videos when they go for concerts. You need to first appreciate your fans to even take notice of them

I think some genuinely do. I think IU genuinely cares about her fans.

Ofc many are at least grateful to their fans since it's because of them they can work. But it doesn't make them love them.

I'm pretty sure none of them like to be mobbed at airports and some of them are at many times frustrated at their fans' behaviors and lack of manners.

(In reality, all of them could actually be fake, but we will never know. It can actually get a bit philosophical. Isn't everyone fake to some extent?)

Not individually but they must feel some kind of appreciation for their fans. Of course there are ones that are in it just for the money but many others genuinely care.

And not just because fans bring money, ya'll are so cynical. When you're an artist, obviously you will love your fans, the ones who appreciate your art and talk about it and are enthusiastic about it. This is also why so many idols ( and artists in general ) love concerts : you get to have a 'direct' contact with your fans as they enjoy your music, dance etc...

So yes, I do think they are sincere when they say it. They probably wouldn't be idols if they didn't.
