I dislike these comparisons. BTS' trajectory is completely different from that of 4th gen groups. They've had to break a lot of barriers that weren't touched before. Same thing with the fandom, ARMY. These comparisons make me roll my eyes because some of the same people saying stuff like this hated on BTS in the past and/or was on the hate train for ARMY too. But now their fave groups are getting hate so they want a BTS success story for them.
As an ARMY who worried about a scandalous article ruining BTS' comeback like it was planned each time, who had to bite my tongue when people made clickbait threads about BTS being dead for laughs because when I talk about the hate the fandom gets I'm told that we are merely playing the victim. I've seen ARMYs get bullied on here. I've seen fandoms hype every other fandom camping underneath various group music videos on youtube with positive messages but when an ARMY does the same thing they get told off for doing it. Every other group had fans calling them legends and kings but the minute you did that with BTS it sparked a whole discussion about how they're not these things. The DOUBLE STANDARD was so apparent. And now it's funny because all groups are riding the wave of BTS' current global popularity but I've had to witness users laugh at ARMY projects for BTS. I will never forget the letter an army fanbase wrote about the EFFORT they are putting in to getting bts a few spins on radio in the US. The same letter that was laughed at, that led to ARMYs being called BEGGARS or fueled bashes about the fandom bribing people.
I remember a post about fandom trauma made by an ARMY that was not taken seriously because it was made by an ARMY. I'm still bitter. Make fun of me all you want about it. You don't forget this stuff especially if you were part of it. So it annoys me to no end that users would diminish and make light of it.
