Idols whose vocals have regressed since debut?

  • if we're being honest, vocal regressions are much more common in kpop than improvements. A lot of idols where much better at debut because they had the trainee period where they got to efficiently work on their vocals. But after some time in their career idols regress due to overworking their voice, straining, fatigue etc.

So which idols' technique regressed with the years?

    On top of my head:

    Park Bom

    Jihyo

Hyorin (altho she bounced back from her regression, she fell significantly in late sistar years)

    Approved the thread.
  • Twice as a whole. They were bad on the beginning but at least they could sing live decently. Over the years in encores they've shown they cant sing live and have gotten worse, some members don't even attempt to sing anymore.

  • jihyo and nayeon (not jy she is better i think?)

    wheein (very big)

seung hee did not sound as good

    that girl from fromis, jiwon

    bts v

    shinee key

    snsd jessica

    wonder girls yubin?

    boa

    that jyp jimin lady

    davichi minyoung, haeri is better

  • all except those who DO NOT lipsync since they don’t sing live at all. haha

  • A lot of YG and JYP idols due to being forced to constantly and excessively use wrong techniques instructed by uncaring coaches in order to produce the typical 'YG' and 'JYP' sound. Like Jihyo, Nayeon, Lia, Rose, Bom (obviously).

    Yuju

Hyorin (off and on, very inconsistent)

    Wheein (a surprise)

    Tiffany (SNSD)

Tiffany has greatly improved. She used to have major pitch problems until TTS in 2012 when she became more stable. Then after leaving SM and going to America she got some good trainers and is much better in almost every way as can be seen from her singing Chicago songs. She’s arguably SNSD 2nd best singer along with Seohyun

I don't think so. she still has problems with Bb4s and B4s compared to Jessica/Seohyun and her lows are lacking a lot. But I think she's stronger than like winter now. Tiffany regressed for a bit with nodules but she bounced back. her peak was in 2014 with sm though.

I don’t know about notes and ranges so I’m just speaking about on a causal level of simply a fan listening to them sing.

Imo Jessica peaked early (2nd bets in SNSD as a result) and stagnated ever since. Her voice is high airy voice and that’s about it. Her lows aren’t that interesting. Some of her solo singles through the years are that same type of style and that’s all, little versatility. I don’t like her solo music as result.

Meanwhile Tiffany can’t quite reach the higher stuff but she definitely is much better in the lower end and is easily much more versatile as she can do a wider range of styles Seohyun is just as good as the other other in high and lows but more importantly in SNSD she’s the workhorse that does most background singing and harmonising. That’s why I think they’re both better than Jessica was in SNSD, the main thing Jessica has over them is her unique tone but take that away and give her a generic vocal tone and I doubt most people would like her voice as much.

It’s why I think Taeyeon is kpop best singer. She’s obviously technically very good but what elevates her is she emotional singing style and the fact she can pull of literally any sound. I can’t see Jessica or Tiffany ever being to pull of half of Taeyeon songs. Seohyun has more versatility than those 2 but she doesn’t have the output to show if she’s as capable as Taeyeon.

  • With V it's really hard to tell because he's mostly just breathing into the microphone at this point.

It suits his own songs though.

  • Jessica is definitely stronger in the mix compared to Tiffany, strains less, and has produced resonance before, i think that she did not care about vocals as much after debut, while tiffany/seohyun/sunny improved a lot after debut. seohyun is snsd 2nd best singer, jessica 3rd and after a gap tiffany 4th, sunny 5th. tiffany is better than idols like winter (or around the same level) so she's def underrated.

Rose has actually improved lmao. I know y’all don’t know shit about vocals whenever I see someone say she has regressed. Rose seems to have found a balance with her voice technique wise.

She is consistent and I don't see her regressing anytime.
