If there's 90 million kpop fans, why do groups still flop?

Because they aren't fans of the same group

They're from countries that don't have a huge fan base.

Because 99 % of that only support the top 1% of kpop groups. If you sell 50k albums and above, you're already part of that 1%

also visibility gets to be a pretty hard thing to maintain when there are sets of new groups every 1 or 2 years.

People would have to know/hear about those groups that flop, in the first place. Visibility is very hard to get if you don't have a strong marketing or a big push (ex. being part of a popular company).

The sad reality is that with so many groups debuting all the time, it's quite hard for people to keep track of all of them.

IKR and not an ARMY but just look at how BTS made Hybe popular, if they hadn't blown up the Bighit name would remain pretty much nugu forever (I mean they collab'd with JYP for 2AM but that was pretty much it for Bighit's nugudom back in 2008)

this. people forget 30-40 groups debut every year yet we only really hear about 10 and even less than that top the charts.

also 90 million fans is not a lot considering that’s all over the world…
