is it safe to say aespa and enhypen are leading the new gen

  • The coincidence is scary lol both txt and itzy are forerunners from bts and twice and both groups debuted the same year the same month and were leading for a while then suddenly both enhypen and aespa who also debut same month and year take the crowns from both groops the irony

  • nah its stray kids for boy groups in my opinion. Enhyphen are getting there on a race car though :wellr:

  • No to both. Neither dominate their gen in all metrics

  • I wouldn't say aespa and enhypen are the leaders YET but i think they will be the ones to lead the generation and that will happen soon

People who say "aespa and enhypen aren't leaders because they still don't lead in ALL aspects" better realize that in this case, stray kids, txt, itzy and whatever else group you think is leading - is not. If enhypen and aespa can't be considered leaders due to not excelling in every aspect then txt and itzy can't be considered the leaders too since they also don't excell in everything.

  • Why are they leading the way when they aren't even coming close to toppling the current leaders? Two years from now the current leaders will still be BTS and Blackpink and by that time people will be talking about 5th gen.

This, people are so fixated in this 4th gen leader thing when it doesn't even matter. BTS/BP are light years ahead of the rest and will likely continue to be

  • I honestly think it's still unclear who the leaders of 4th gen are.

There are still so many groups debuting, and so many things happening that its hard to tell!

just today, kep1er's debut album broke a record set by aespa on Hanteo Chart. Before that, Ive broke the record set by ITZY for the fastest debut song to get a win. I can see a clearer path for boy groups if anything. But that's still something that time will tell. Right now I think it's either Stray Kids or TXT.

I'm getting carried away here. The point is, we can't exactly tell. We have to give these groups three or more years and a large number 4th gen groups that are "leading the new gen" or dominating charts are not even or barely making that three-year cut rn.

  • Yet are the most talked about groups for anything they do, music related or not, by fans and non fans. Blame the people!

  • If anything its actually skz for bgs. About the same in album sales I think, but skz seems to have better streams on pretty much every platform.

  • Some of you who say that nobody is leading because nobody is topping bts are hilarious like... Nobody is going to top bts in the next decades so what's the correlation, use your brains a little

  • Some ridiculous people are still saying TXT. They can't even sell as much as Enhypen, what do they lead? I can agree with SKZ for now but not TXT.

  • Isn't txt still more popular than enhypen? Don't drag them I am asking

    What points to that?

Album sales are lower both WW and in Japan

Spotify MLs don't say much because they're on a hell lot of playlists and had almost 3 years to gather them

You should compare their first year and Enhypen did better everywhere except Korean charts

Their growth on all platforms except Spotify is also much higher

They're the fastest k-pop boy group to reach 500M streams on Spotify

You want receipts? I have them

  • I didn't know enhypen was doing this good. Looks like txt only has Korea above enhypen. But it's not like txt is going top 5 on all charts.

  • Not an enhypen stan but some of you guys are underestimating them. Look at their sales and Spotify streams.

  • What kind of logic is this? That’s like saying Enhypen is bigger than BTS because they did better than BTS in their first year. A lot of context really matters here

No. They did a lot better in their first year and their growth now is higher, I used stats from both TXT's first year and the present. It's perfect logic. What kind of logic is comparing an almost 3 y.o. group to a 1 y.o. group? Moas did it when Enhypen was even several months. Obviously they're not gonna have the same amount of streams and sales as a group with 3 years of experience. Very convenient for yall.

I like txt more but enhypen has a bigger loyal fandom. Compare the sales of enhypen and txt's recent albums. Txt has more casual listners while enhypen has a bigger fandom.

i believe BTS and BP are going to be the peak in global popularity for kpop groups for a long time and none of the newer gen groups are going to surpass them.

Blackpink is dead and their members are turning into influencers.

Bts is dying too. Webtoon soundtrack?

    Good luck

  • I don't care about "public recognition". It never mattered. Weird and insecure gg stan spotted.

Im not a gg stan, i'm multi. But a group cant really be considered a top group if they arent acknowldged by gp. Popular yeah, top, "leader" no. Its just how it is. All top bgs in the past had gp recognition.

  • And you need loyal and bigger fandom to be called a leader too. You cant just rely on fickle-minded GP who hardly care about the future of the groups. So for now, no clear leader yet but there are frontrunners. We’ll see in a year or two who will lead the future for k-pop.

  • I am tired of people saying that no one can match BTS and Blankpink’s success. Honestly, it is not fair to compare the 4th gen group esp those who debuted during the pandemic. They ( 3rd gen) are like 6–8 yrs ahead of 4th gen and it’s a different era. Totally different! They deserve respect for paving the way for international market esp. in the west. But let’s be realistic, they wont stay forever. They are grown ups, some will eventually serve in the military towards the end of 2022 or 2023. They will have their individual careers, or perhaps get married or take a different path after the military service. We dont own their freeedom. I’m sure they want some too! I think they can retain their fame but it’s going to be different. It’s more respectable than hysterical. A few 4th gen groups will eventually shine brighter than the rest and take that spotlight.Just like BTS took it without question in 2016! How and who? We dont know. Are they going to be as famous as BTS and BP? We don’t know yet but nothing is impossible. Things change so fast and no one lives in the past. What worked before may not be the same in the future. So dismissing any group now because it doesn’t conform to your personal taste is not wise. Just my two cents!
