It's January 1 in Korea, which means it's not only a new year but the birthday of the fearless, fantastic leader of WayV, Kun!
Kun was cast in the SM Global Auditions in 2015, singing one of his favorite songs, Jay Chou's "Blue Porcelain."
He was then announced as an SM Rookie, before making his debut in NCT in 2016 on one of the group's first singles, on the Chinese version of "Without You."
But Kun had to wait another three years before he finally had an official unit, due to political tensions. During that time, he got his bachelor's degree, becoming the only member of NCT with a college degree.
His wait only strengthened his resolve and leadership abilities - many of the younger members of NCT talk about how he took care of the younger trainees like Jungwoo, YangYang and Sungchan. It's the reason many members of NCT consider him to be a "big brother," including the members of his own unit.
There's lots to say about Kun: he flies a plane, he produces, writes and records music, he skydives, he cooks well, he does magic, he sings beautifully, he dances well, he's a great leader, he's a great radio host. But I think the thing I love most about him is the combination of fearlessness and kindness. He's not afraid to jump out of a plane or to leave his family behind for another country that he barely spoke the language in to pursue his dreams. He didn't give up or quit when things became difficult. He's often the first to like a fellow member's post or accomplishment and he will talk them up, cheer and praise them. He keeps every fan letter anyone has sent him.
Oh yeah, all that and he looks like this too..
But is still delighted and shy when someone says he's handsome.
