I don't think it should be included with STEM.
What is your opinion on schools changing STEM to STEAM to include art?

It doesn't make sense

Art and science are not mutually exclusive
Some work of science are inspired by arts.. and some arts especially in nature are actually very scientific
I whole heartedly agree
ps - there’s art in doing surgery, doing molecular work, chemical reactions, construction of buildings etc
-
well the acronym is not as cool imo.
STEM reminds me of stem cell
STEAM....reminds me of trains
one is cooler than the other.....at least to me lol
-
It's not that big of a change, so I don't mind
-
STEM now includes art? huh?
-
Edit: I’m dumb? So I will not say anything.

there's math in business, but business isn't included with STEM

when did this happen

my high school was doing this at least 5+ years ago

im still in hs
maybe they're like integrating it slowly in some areas?

Maths in science is about solving problems by producing new equations or use old equations in a new way, apply to what is needed.. maths in business is straight forward (although some use creative ways to represent their numbers during audits lol)

..... I graduated in 2013 and our school already had implemented STEAM....

Well, as an animator, 3d modeling and animation is definitely very relevant to stem (medical field tech, NASA shit, etc). I guess the arts help with how we can express and present the science, so it does definitely intertwine with it.
I mean, it's only inevitable this happens even. Incorporating arts into stem would allow these two fields to intertwine to a stronger extent (I'd Imagine anyways).

Doesn't make complete sense

I love art so I'm living....I agree...the arts are always left behind...all ppl care about is boring math...what's stem again...forgot about that tbh....

so by your logic, that means using "art" in surgery doesn't make it the same as the how its used in the visual arts when there are different end objectives and required skillsets. art in science =/= art in art, as math in science =/= math in business. You might as well include everything in the acronym if there's a tiny overlap, but then the acronym becomes pointless

I feel like there are a lot of assumptions being made about STEAM. Here's more info about it if anyone actually cares.
