Girls' Generation's Taeyeon suffered a real estate fraud.
As a result of the Ten Asia coverage on the 28th, it was revealed that Girls' Generation's Taeyeon was the "Hallyu star belonging to a girl group," known as a victim of a 250 billion won planned real estate scam.
In 2019, Taeyeon purchased land in Hanam, Gyeonggi-do from a large planning real estate group for 1.1 billion won. However, the land purchased by Taeyeon's side is a designated sanya that cannot be repurposed except for military or public facilities. The land was virtually impossible to develop as it was bound as a 'conservation mountain area' under the Forest Conservation Act.
The company bought the land for 400 million won and sold it to Taeyeon for 1.1 billion won within three months.
The police believe that the planning real estate group split the land that could not be developed into small pieces and sold it to about 3,000 people as if there was undisclosed development information. It is said that the company has avoided suspicion by doing TV commercials with a 20-year tradition, and has attracted wealthy investors by using a famous comedian from KBS as a salesperson.
The investigative authorities are investigating and booked the representatives of the four affiliates of the group on charges of fraud and violation of the Farmland Act under the Specific Economic Crimes Act.
