But he build this company from scratch. At least his family members could take over but just hand it over CJ ENM.
LSM is getting old. And he doesn't want his son to get SM shares. Maybe he believes kpop will slow down in future or being a major shareholder must be hard who knows what sort of office politics happen in these companies.
-
well yeah, he stole money and evaded to pay taxes maybe because he wasn't earning enough money for himself. I don't know. Over 150 sales and 8 million net profit something is wrong. Yeah, He is lucky that he didn't get jail time.

His family might have wanted the shares but kpop system may not be as popular in future. in that case big kpop companies will find it hard to keep operating. it's not like his family will get nothing. By selling his shares he can invest that in real estate or some other business that will be more sustanable. SM already has a lot of subsidiaries for modeling; acting; now they have some sort of training academy; some resorts too i've heard.

Of course he will get money in return for his shares. Kpop is growing worldwide and industry is more stable then it was years ago. Why would his family didn't want his shares. I am sorry but you don't make sense.

Okay but in all honesty even if he is stepping down or selling his shares, he will still have control and or another thing going on behind the scenes in the company
Those rich people always do lol they wont just throw away a huge share of their money unless there is another benefit 🤷♀️
Those are just statements to throw the eyes away from them

Yeah, it was between Kakao and CJ E&M and Kakao dropped out.
But both companies and their market cap dwarfs all of the Kpop labels. They have a monopoly over media and platforms in Korea.
But it's been talked about for months now in the business world in Korea. There are teams forming behind 3 companies:
Naver vs Kakao vs CJ E&M
These are the 3 power brokers in media and entertainment
Do you follow Korean corporate news closely? I've noticed news articles here and there and watched which Kpop labels seem to get favored treatment by the different media conglomerates, and i made up a simple lineup of the three giant "teams" in the Korean media industry.
Kakao and SM. Saw news articles linking the two together.
CJENM and JYPE. JYP groups are always prominent in big CJENM venues like MAMA and Studio Choom, plus JYP's involvement in Produce.
Naver and YGE. Naver investing in YGE, plus the Founder's son producing under the Black Label.
Hybe is the one i'm most unsure about. I know they recently made headlines with joint projects involving YGE and Naver, but they've also seemed very close to CJENM.

Good on the old bastard for selling to cj. If he had sold out to the Chinese we would have killed the traitorous scum
-
Yup SM artists and staff will definitely benefit from this sale.

Well there are teams forming:
Naver/YG/Hybe vs. SM/JYP/CJ or Kakao
Online Concerts:
YG and Hybe invested in Venewlive
SM and JYP invested in BeyondLive
Fan Platform:
YG and Hybe on Weverse
SM and JYP in Bubble
Then there are other collaborations:
YGPlus distributes music and albums for Hybe. Also Merch.
YG and Naver are building the largest SFX/VFX venue in Korea to hold online concerts and other online shows. Hybe will most likely use this venue.
Naver and YGPlus own VIBE music platform.
Funny enough, Naver invests in SM, YG, JYP and Hybe.
But Naver seems to be collabing on joint ventures more with YG and Hybe.
Naver's relationship with YG runs long and deep. I believe the next move will be Naver obtaining more shares of YG.
It's also my theory that THEBLACKLABEL is going to go public and Naver will be a major shareholder. I mean the son of the Founder of Naver is an artist at THEBLACKLABEL, Loren.
There's a history of that. YG (the person) encouraged one of his longtime creative directors, Sinxity, to go start his own label. It's called Axis...the label of Katie Kim and Henry Lau.
It was revealed that Naver was a major investor...Yang Hyun Suk most likely got Naver to invest. YGPlus also distributes for them.
