Okay I will play your game
Their main reason is likely on star power. They needed someone with a core fanbase that possibly is able to attract fans to watch the show.
He was part of a package deal, seeing as how all the judges are affiliated with sm, and he is honestly one of the top tiered dancers within sm itself which is recognised by choreographers and dancers alike. He was likely deemed as most suitable.
Also seeing as how the majority of the dance industry is centered around kpop and idol dance it made sense to how someone from the new idol generation to be represented.

He's more than a good dancer, pro dancers and choreographers have said multiple times that he's at a great level, so good he could be a dance teacher on Seoul, not to mention he has actually been involved in making some parts of the choreographies and that he's at a point where he's so good at dancing that he can choose the style he wants to perform with. On a 23 member group very good dancing-wise and with insane choreographies he's center and like the best dancer after Ten. He's also a known face on one of the most popular boygroups on Korea right now. The true question is: why shouldn't he be a judge con a dance contest?
