Idols have more advantage if they are non-korean. Thoughts?
Kpop is not kpop anymore.

It's West pop in a different language
-
What? I disagree.
-
More advantages for what?
-
-
K-Pop = A group made in Korea singing in Korean
K-Pop =/= Korean members (only)

I guess that makes sense too. I would really love to see white and black kids being in mnet shows competing to debut as well now that kpop is popular in US.

I've predicted that Kpop's 5th generation will mark the transition to an international pop genre. I think starting 2025 or so, we'll see the first non Asian superstar in Kpop, the first openly gay idols, and the first Kpop hits sung in other languages like Thai, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Mandarin, French, etc.
So eventually, yes, being white, black, or brown may indeed be an asset as Kpop begins to transition to this phase.

By being a complete nugu in Korea? There are only a few foreign idols that can claim to be extremely popular among the Korean GP.

I really disagree.
Part of kpop was foreign members since ses as well.
There is less advantage for idols if they are nonkorean.

Lisa?
Lisa was very popular but she was the exception to the rule. She is also the least popular in Korea.
Tzuyu doesn't get as much promotion as she is not Korean. Sana was very popular as a rookie because of her variety but now she had the japanese scandal and she isn't as prevalent in the gp.
Nayeon gets pushed more than the foreign members, from the start.
Natty got shoved, Kreisha Chu got shoved, Secret Number may have a strong foreign fanbase for now, but I think Soodam will be more popular in the future.
F(x) Victoria was quite popular until she had to leave for China. Hangeng, Zhoumi, Henry, Liyin, and tons of idols struggled in Korea.
WJSN's chinese members made it big after 7 years of being invisible and now with restrictions may lose a lot of their popularity.
Yuqi was more popular with variety, but Soyeon and once Soojin were more popular with koreans. Now Miyeon has become the most popular.

at the end of the day where you are from is partially important but what you do with it is more important...
there are foreign idols that are less pushed/less successful within a group than their korean counterparts...there are foreign idols that are more successful than their korean counterparts...some of it can be the company pushing them - some of it may be what fans want and like...
personally I think foreign idols have it harder because they have
1. to leave home
2. learn a new language and culture - yes the culture is especially important
3. do all the things that a korean idol does plus more
