SM better give aespa a more powerful song than next level as soon as possible

  • believe me, SM probably invest more on nct than aespa in every aspect, from promotion to song

all SM boy group has national hit. maybe shinee doesnt but at least huge hit/near national hit like ring ding dong and lucifer.

That doesn't matter, it's clear SM is now focusing in fandom growth, because NCT brings enough money that way. And nah, as a nct fan I can tell you most of the time the teasers and MVS are cheaper than what groups from midsized companies release. Some of the outfits are recycled too lol

And SM would have promoted them different if they were looking for a national hit. Not a single knowing bros, amazing saturday or running man appearance says a lot about their lack of korean promos.

Anyways, aespa is the topic now and since SM has invested so much and is so proud of the results Next Level got, it's obvious they are looking for the best of best for the girls. SM ggs prove everyone wrong time after time.

  • I agree that aespa has a big momentum here, i wouldn't mind personally if NL ended up to be their biggest hit, it's hard to top a national hit. But i do hope that we will get more original songs especially since rumors about an album already circulating.

Is it counted as a cover? SM buy in most/all of their songs from American writers. Theoretically Boss or Psycho could have wound up on a soundtrack first. They must have seen a lot of potential in the song to buy it even with it existing elsewhere.

My only issue is that I really prefer the original arrangement, and I don't think I'd have been as hung up on a demo. I think some stans might be kidding themselves that SM improved the song and made it so successful, but really I think it's just that most of us like to do the chorus choreo. The original arrangement would have been equally popular. I watch this IG clip all the time. Best bit.

I genuinely think so because my favorite part of song by far is Ningning and Winter's bridge-like part (not sure if it's really a bridge) and the entire beat drop, both of them are original. To me the original NL soundtract sounds so flat, which is understandable since it's a soundtrack afterall.

of course matter. SM messed up NCT's discography

what makes you think SM didnt plan a huge hit or national hit song for NCT?

fandon growth? what makes you think SM used different approach than his previous boygroups?

if you don't follow NCT you wouldn't know. ofc every group and company wants to get a national hit, nct and SM are no exceptions.

the difference here is SM didn't actively try for it. as experts on the industry they would know better that releasing experimental songs since debut, having a whole new concept, the units system, lack of promotions on korean tv, shipping the groups to other countries causing kfans to sabotage, not riding the momentum of some of their popular songs like Boss and Kick It, etc were NOT the ways to prepare them for a national hit.

SM's production team have plenty of hit makers and they know the formula to get a public friendly song, yet they give NCT some of the most experimental songs (and concepts) ever, and I'm actually glad they never changed their original sound to please the public. the closest they were to a "song made thinking of the general public" was nct dream's early releases, but with the lack of promotions and age restrictions it was not the time for them.

what makes me think SM is using a different approach now? the fact that NCT broke all the old records from H.O.T era and have the best selling SM albums ever, and achieving that without a national hit. no other sm bg could achieve that despite their hit songs.

nct is the most fandom-focused Sm group ever, and it shows when you compare all the variety appearances and realities groups like Shinee, Suju and Exo had airing on national tv. NCT are called "youtubers" for a reason, all their content is uploaded to their youtube channel, where they have their own realities and series, while barely getting exposure on national tv

  • A girlgroup of my country biggest song is a remake, and nobody matters since the original wasn't known here, it's their representative song.

And let's not add pressure on Aespa, Next Level isn't easy to reproduce chart performance wise, is like telling Twice to do better than Cheer Up or Red Velvet better than Red Flavor. Yes, Next Level still doesn't achieve an entire year on gaon like the songs mentioned, but so far has great longetivity and peak.
