Why do people pay more attention to Melon than Gaon?

Personally, Melon seems harder to chart, so more fascinating (the reason I like 24hits), but just for the first weeks. Later Gaon becomes more reliable, and the monthly or yearly charts are specially accurate.

I think cause GAON includes many "lesser" charts like Bugs, Genie, etc. These charts are easy to manipulate (except Flo and Vibe which i believe are totally UL based) which can dilute the relevance of GAON.

Melon 24HRs was the best cause it gave you the most important metric - ULs. I mean it wasnt perfect either (downloads shouldnt have counted, that allows fanbases to get an extra "vote" in addition to being counted as a UL).

Honestly, it would be best for GAON to just use Flo, Melon and Vibe. Maybe YT and Spotify if UL stats are available. Also get rid of downloads entirely, all they do is artifically inflate scores by allowing fandoms to be double counted (one for their stream and one for their download).

Some are obsessed with the "GP" validation coz you know🤷🏽‍♀️... their faves got no fans perhaps🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏻‍♂️ .
