K-POP idols should never debut if they are under 18

  • there are literally 14-year-old kids winning gold medals at Olympics :clown:

or some kids in similar age working as miners, or driving tuk tuk for whole day to make a living...

16-17 is more than ok, just go out of the rookie period and you are adult ^^

  • This is such a debatable topic. I agree with you to some extends but still they spend their youth in the right environment where it guarantees them works, talents, capabilities and many more opportunities in the entertainment industry. I am so glad that they spent their youth on training which is something that could potentially build them as a person rather than something that could really damage their future. Many young people nowadays spend their youths on drinking, consuming and gamblings. Training make them who they are today, if not they could be entirely different person from what we know now.

Yup, could see it that way too even when I see it different at some points. I just hope they feel safe and protected. :pepelove1:

  • I think there should be a healthy balance. Ease up on restrictions. Let them enjoy somewhat of a normal teenage life when they can. That’s not something you should mess with or take away from anyone because what happens during those years heavily affect how they turn out later in life.

They should be able to start their careers before they turn 18. They shouldn’t be hindered when it comes to pursuing a dream just because there are depraved people out there. It’s not their fault, so they shouldn’t be punished for it. If they’re being sexualized, blame the ones responsible. Things don’t have to be the way they are.

Probably easier said than done, but nothing changes if nothing changes.

  • Completely agree, i wouldn't let my kid debut at 15, far away from home in a toxic field like kpop. At that age kids should eat a lot especially boys not dieting , i think they might have grow taller if they had a healthy lifestyle. Eat, sleep like any teenage kid should. Plus the stress, the possile abuse by the managers, the company. Don't even want to think about it. I remember Jungkook being hit by a manager. Maybe the one in bigger companies are more protected or the ones that come from rich families. Don't know, it's such a big risk, being a trainee, maybe you don't even get to debut or have succes.

  • So how do you feel about child actors / actresses who debut young? Or the child / teen singers in Disney / Nickelodeon shows? Should we wait until they're eighteen before they can officially debut in the entertainment industry?

    Some examples:

    • Selena Gomez started singing and acting on the TV show "Barney and Friends" at the age of 10, recorded the theme song for "Wizards of Waverley Place" (where she was also a lead actress) at the age of 15, and signed a record deal with Hollywood Records at the age of 16.
    • Miley Cyrus got the lead role of "Hannah Montana" at the age of 14, and released her debut studio album (which was a soundtrack for Hannah Montana) by the age of 15.
    • Nick Jonas (of the Jonas Brothers) started theatre acting at the age of 7, and released a debut single at the age of 10. The Jonas Brothers released their debut album when Nick was age 14.
    • Justin Timberlake began as a member of the Mickey Mouse Club when he was age 12-13, and debuted as the youngest member and lead singer of boy band NSYNC when he was age 15.

Heck, MICHAEL JACKSON debuted at the age of 6 as a member of the Jackson 5, and became a solo artist by the age of 13, recording 4 solo studio albums between the ages of 13-15.

  • I provided a counterpoint with a legitimate reason why it might be acceptable or at least understable to have under 18 idols and you ignore it. Other users said same/similar things. I even explained why kpop specifically chooses young trainees (because of kpop fans) but you ignore that too. It's immediately back to sex and pedo crap. What is up with you?

I mean if that's the only thing you think about when you think about underage kids, kpop or otherwise, then frankly I'm thinking you should be on a list....

Dude minors shouldn't be overworked or sexualized even by other minors. Like you are talking about something completely different.

How many of the disney kids have issues? Mental ones and end in the rehab? Didn't Demi tried to suicide? You think it's a coincidence? All these kids were probably sexually abused too, everyone knows that Hollywood is run by pedos .
