This is probably an unpopular kpop opinion.........
In all of my experience in music, I have never seen an artist get hate for using a beat drop in the chorus than in kpop.
I get that some people don't like beat drops in the chorus but, it is your personal taste. You don't decide what type of songs an artist releases. There are people that like beat drop in the chorus.
I really don't get it. If you don't like a group's music then you can unstan. At first I thought that this was just a small problem.
But recently, I have been seeing more and more people getting criticized(not in a good way) for releasing a song with a beat drop. For example, Itzy, Aespa, and recently Loona(the reason I got reminded of this topic and decided to make this thread.
There is no need to call an artist generic, using the same sound, etc for releasing a song with a beat drop and begging them to do a full chorus for all their future comebacks.
Tbh, I find it hypocritical. I know groups that use a full chorus for all/most of their songs, next time should I ask them to do a beat drop in their songs?
Thanks for reading my tedtalk.
