Exactly, you may like a voice for its uniqueness or something that sticks with you. But coming for other vocalists for not checking that characteristic is totally ridiculous.

I think having stand out vocal color is indeed a thing. It’s just used wrongly in kpop. I cannot say that certain kpop vocalists have vastly recognizable voices that would warrant their fans to use it as an excuse for being a bad vocalist.

But unique vocal tones are definitely a thing. Some voices are more recognizable than others. No two ways about it.

having a nice or unique vocal tone is in no way above being a technically good vocalist

Vocal tone and colors are a thing. What you mean is that a good vocalist could achieve a range of vocal techniques and has a versatility since they know how to sing song properly with the appropriate vocal techniques. Or else, everyone could sing like Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston. People who are good singers or know the techniques can imitate them through that.

Most the vocal tones that are touted to be unique by kpop fans are either very meh to me or indeed unique but in a very negative way lol (that's to say unbearable)

but vocal color is a thing it's not always used to justify someone's "lack of skills" and keep in mind that's it's matter of taste too.

only few good vocalists can have both a nice vocal color and good technique (D.O, baek) but there are great vocalists that don't stand out despite having a great technique.

For example, Chen is probably the most technical vocalist but I personally dislike his vocal color.
