The weird relationships between Senior Maknaes who are younger than their Juniors (Bang chan and Twice Maknae line, Irene and SNSD Maknae line, etc)

Not creepy at all. It's a sign of respect. It's like if you have a manager at work that is younger than you. You still show them the respect that their position gives them.

That's the culture. In this case positional seniority wins over age seniority. I think it's absolutely precious when Chan refers to Tzuyu as sunbaenim. You can tell he has a lot of respect for all of Twice.

And Irene is only older than Seohyun by a couple of months anyways.

I mean I lead a team of 12 but I'm the youngest one by far among all of them but they still treat me with respect and some call me "Ms. Pikachu (NOT SAYING MY REAL NAME)" even when I tell them not to but they do it out of respect and politeness I guess!

In Korea, age is very important. This is more of a sign of respect.
