sure why not...they're just asking for directions...and I would assume this is in public...

if it were my house i'd be hesitant...

If they looked genuine then yes I would.

Yeah I've always helped if I can.

Them looking 'alright' makes no real sense to me though in this question, since depending on where you are anyone can be dodgy regardless if they look 'alright'.

I will give them the directions they need. DC can be confusing. This has happened to me several times over already on the streets and on the train. I don't look approachable, but Eastern peoples know energy better than Westerners. Easterners know how to find "beacon energy"!

I always tried to help them.

It happened with both people from my country who were new in my city and I also had foreign people (students) ask me. For the foreign group of students I actually tried to walk them to the place they were searching for, as it was very close.
