I don't get why people say HYLT is like KTL or D4

me too

Honestly though, HYLT completely switches up the formula of D4 and KTL, even down to the line distribution, instrumental (mainly the verses, pre-chorus and chorus bassline) and the way those filler words are used. I can see the arguments for D4 and KTL, but I feel like HYLT is really different.
Out of the 3 songs I think HYLT was the most different (if you don't look at the lyrics)
I think it's okay to have a formula anyway, most artists do, the formulaic aspects are popular for a reason

well I like HYLT and that's all that matters to me...
-
When I look at those songs, I see a similar formula, not similar sounds.
The difference is that DDDD and KTL are boring for me, but HYLT is a bop.
-
haters just like to say that so that all Blackpink's songs appear to be repetitive.
Matter of fact is that these songs are produced by same producer (which also produced many bops by other YG groups such Bangx3, fantastic baby)
They have similar structure, but the sound and style are vastly different. Only haters would say KTL is DDDD2.0 and HYLT is DDDD3.0.

I think in Kpop, people are just used to a change of concept and sound every comeback, so when a group has a reoccuring concept and sound, people feel like it's the same thing over and over again. Gfriend and KARD has also had the same comments made about them. But also, I just think people wanted to see a different side of Blackpink and weren't given that. Simply because Blackpink debuted with such versatile styles, Whistle, Boombayah and Playing With Fire, Stay....and even As If It's Your Last. Each song was a different vibe, concept and sound. But then starting from Ddu Du Ddu Du, the vibes starting being being the same. Ddu Du Ddu Du was great but like...they should have switched it up for the next comeback, but then we get Kill This Love. And then we get How You Like That. At last, Lovesick Girls was a different sound.

Interesting, but when these groups switch their signature sound, they get dumped/hated
Gfriend - Fingertip
Blackpink - Ice cream
The bipolarity of kpop fans is REAL

I don't know about Ddu du ddu du, but i have watch a video of producer reacting to HYLT and KTL. He watch KTL after HYLT and said that both have the same formula. So, maybe thats why some people think they sound similar
