The YouTube chart is apparently not accurate any more to evaluate ad views

My feeling is it may...catch up? Next week? But it’s so impossible that with almost 5 million likes EXO made only 17.5million views for like 5 days of charting. Which is not in line with their Spotify or other parameters which debuted so amazingly well. If Spotify had flopped I would have been like yeah prolly ad views. I don’t particularly care if they do have ad views.

This just seems extremely unrealistic lol

Anyway stream DFTF. I promise no exol is that interested in manipulating YouTube nor will SM be willing to give EXO 40million in ad views. No one cares that much eye- they’re not even going to music shows to win those prizes

Well that’s what we assumed till last year. But perhaps they’ve added even more filtering than just simple ad view filtering. Like maybe filtering on repeated looping etc. who knows at this point

The bottom line is we can’t use it to determine ad views any more.

But we don’t know what YouTube is telling us. Till now we assumed it just filtered ad views. It could be doing a lot more than that. Everything so far has been assumption. We know nothing about what the YouTube chart is actually calculating.

Yes we can use it as the correct source for views but it’s no longer reliable for predicting ad views like we previously thought.

But we can still totally use it. Just not for the purpose kpop fans were originally using it for.

You would be wrong though. It’s quite clear it’s doing a lot. You don’t need a forum to tell you that lol. I imagine it’s doing something closer to what Spotify top 200 is doing.

You can continue to have assumptions. But since I’ve been shown it’s not reliable I personally won’t use it to make assumptions about ad views any more.

YouTube never told us what the chart does. So while you can consider it an accurate tool for ad views. Just don’t expect any one to accept it in any serious argument any more.

BTW I’m not saying you guys can’t consider it a legit metric. It is measuring SOMETHING. Maybe more unique and legitimate views.

I have previously used this tool as an infallible estimate for ad views and some of you may have seen me do it, since there are discrepancies I just personally won’t be doing that any more and nor will I force that type of thinking on any one.

It’s not a conspiracy. It’s not about what the YouTube chart is showing.

It’s about what we ASSUMED the YouTube chart was telling. Kpop community collectively told everyone the chart only displays “non ad views” but as it turns out maybe it’s doing more than that. We don’t know until YouTube tells us.

Bottom line : kpop stans assumption is wrong. It’s got nothing to do with YouTube in particular being biased. At least that’s my stance

This is the correct and my preferred way of measuring a videos popularity. In 2-3 months how many views you’re getting is more important.

It’s not. But the revelation is that there is SOME change in what YouTube did before to now.

For example with the growth in kpop popularity globally, international streaming numbers have gone up since 2018 and that’s seen across the board for EXO in many platforms. It’s unrealistic that in particular unless YouTube made a change in the way they display the YT chart that we would see these numbers. It’s not in accordance with what was happening before. And that’s what many ppl have noticed for many videos.

Not that actual filtering is happening. I think that’s just common sense.

Like I said I don’t think the YouTube chart is WRONG. Maybe exol are very dedicated repeat streamers and YouTube filtered it out.

All I know is it’s not accurate to measure ad views any more personally
