    Unfortunately, many kpop fans always try to push this narrative about SM artists lipsynching all the time. Every time someone praises SM artists vocals, there will be blanket shady statements about how it's pointless to have vocal talent if you are not going to sing live anyway.*

    Needless to say, these narratives annoy me a lot, first because i know they are not true at all and second, because they make it seem like lipsynching is an SM thing when it is in fact an industry thing, many people aren't even aware that their own faves lipsynch too but they sure want to drag others.


    so i want to share and show off some of my faves' live vocals, hoping to dispel this misconception in open minded people

    and when i say "my faves" i mean Super Junior and NCT. fans of other SM groups feel free to come and share your faves' live performances

    There will always be times when groups lipsync, it just depends on how often and where they do it, especially when they're doing full choreo.

    If you lipsync to the studio track for 2 - 3 weeks on your music show cycle with multiple songs, well it's still not something every group does, some will sing straight off the bat or in the second week at least, but it also makes sense. They're preserving their voices since they have really long days there and have to record the same performance multiple times of there is a mistake.

    Doing it at music shows and first few performances are fine, but if it's at award shows, festivals, concerts, places like that constantly, it's more noticeable. NCT did fully lip sync at the gayo daejun the year before last, when some others didn't, for example.

    They can still sing though anyway so it's not the end of the world.
